The College Girl's Guide To Skincare
As we enter November, the winter air has gotten significantly less forgiving on our skin, especially on our faces. Now this time does also come with lots of holiday cheer in the air, but it can also lead to our faces drying out, which tends to pose a problem for most women. No matter your skin type, the harsh winter winds can do a beating on our faces, so here are some products and helpful tips to keep your face refreshed until Spring.
La Roche- Posay Effaclar Duo Moisturizer (pictured left)
This anti-blemish moisturizer corrects and hydrates skin, while giving the user clearer skin in 4 weeks. This moisturizer is a great base layer for makeup, as it stops your skin from drying out and producing extra oil (i.e. that lovely sheen that looks like highlighter but is actually just melted foundation.)
m-61: PowerGlow Peel (Available on Amazon)
This quick and easy peel comes in its own package that contains a wipe soaked in formula. Just wash your face, wipe this peel on, and head to bed; yes its just that easy! This product helps at controlling oil, as well as keeping your pores hydrated so they can stand up to the wind.
Elf: Hydrating Bubble Mask
Now some of you may seem skeptical, due to how this product works. My favorite way to use it is to take a hot shower and then right before I shave my legs I apply this mask and rinse it off once I’m finished. The steam from the shower allows for your pores to open up, so that this mask can get in there and clean them out. Once applying the formula to your skin it will begin to tingle and create bubbles. These bubbles allow for the mask to remove all of the dirt from your pores, so all you have to do is rinse off the bubbles and you are good to go!
T.N. Dickinson’s: Witch Hazel Cleansing Pads
Now this may seem like a product that your mother might own (mine was the one who recommended this to me). These pads allow for you to tone your skin, after washing, before moisturizer is applied. Applying toner allows for your skin’s ph to rebalance, once it has been stripped of its oils (i.e. washing your face). Toning helps to keep your skin hydrated, but not oily, all day long.
Sephora: The Mud Mask
This clay fiber mask allows for ones face to become matte, without fully drying out your face. This mask’s main ingredient is mineral mud of natural origin. This mask absorbs sebum, mattifies your skin, balances, and remineralizes. Try this mask for an easy 15 minute way to give your skin a jump start when you don’t necessarily have a ton of time.
Wash Your Face
No matter how cold it is outside or how comfortable your bed looks after a long day, always remember to wash your face before bed. This can prevent pores from becoming clogged, as well as giving your face a breather. Make sure to moisturize your skin after each wash so your skin doesn’t compensate by producing more oil, which can lead to breakouts.Take
Time To Tone
You have probably seen the insta-worthy bottles of the Glossier Skin Toner, and some of you may think that it is all a hoax. While toning your face can help to defeat unwanted oils, as well as helping to improve the softness of ones skin, it is also a good base for a moisturizer, ensuring that your skin stays hydrated and protected no matter the weather.
