River Carron.
Just like The Kelvin that featured in a post last week, the Carron is a river that, like many other rivers in the area, was polluted and devoid of fish even as recently as twenty years ago due to the heavy industrial era and aftermath.
It's source is upstream of Carron Valley Reservoir in the Campsie Fells. Below the Reservoir, the river crashes through a gorge and slows a little as it passes Denny, Larbert and Falkirk to eventually meet the Firth of Forth at Grangemouth.
There are many walks along the Carron, yesterday I walked along it from The Kelpies to the new footbridge in Abbotshaugh Community Woodlands, turning back the way past Skinflats before again heading along the Forth and Clyde Canal back to The Kelpies.
Today I plan on heading towards Larbert and will bring you more pics of the Carron at Carronbridge Viaduct.
