This is a Lady Sheaffer XVI Moiré cartridge fountain pen c. 1958-1960. Moiré is a fabric, usually silk, with a wavy (watered) appearance created by a finishing technique called calendaring. This 5 3/8 inch long pen features an etched moiré pattern on a gold color finish, a gold-plated center band with a raised ring filled with clear rhinestones. Mandarin Red nib section, Sheaffer’s number 19 Vermilion color, and a gold nib. This example has a two tone gold nib and some finish loss spots on the barrel.
