the quote that changed the world
hey okay so this is a new blog dedicated to ‘skulduggery weeks.’
what’s a skulduggery week? every week, we’ll give you a prompt - a character, a book, quotes, something - and you guys can make anything you like based off that prompt. you can make edits, gifsets, fanart, fanfic, playlists, headcanons, memes. anything you want. the next week, we’ll give a new prompt. that’s it. pretty much just a fun way to create stuff for the fandom !!
rules -
there’s not many rules really - nothing nsfw pls, be nice.
you can post what you make at any point during the week and as long as you tag it #skulduggeryweek, it will be reblogged here. you don’t need to make something for every week obviously, and don’t feel obligated to join in if you don’t want to or don’t have time
I think that’s it? if you have any questions feel free to ask me and I’ll be happy to explain anything to you !!
yeah pls reblog this to spread the word !!
Let’s talk about Solomon Wreath, character from the Skulduggery Pleasant serie by Derek Landy, and who deserves the favorite underrated character title.
That man is a necromancer, a category of adepts who can manipulate shadows and who are the friends nobody likes of the sorcerer world. The fact they are recluse, discourage any attempts to live in the outside world or not to be obnoxious, and wear dark robes, probably doesn’t help.
And you have Solomon Wreath, suave and stylish necromancer, spends his time living adventures outside the temple, is so fancy his power object is a cane, is snarky and just everything cool about necromancers.
Even when the Passage was revealed, he completely owned it. Yes, they intended to kill half of the population. Yes, it’s bad. But if it means stopping Death itself, it’s worth it. But he is not a monster, killing less than that is just murder.
But let’s be honest, one of his most important aspect is his role of foil. Skulduggery and him are both Valkyrie’s teachers, and where Skulduggery sees a partner to train, he sees an incredibly talented student and the Death Bringer.
Who else can put Skulduggery Pleasant, war hero, dead man, suave protagonist, on the defensive so fast? Makes him so jealous? This suave necromancer who is not only absolutely unafraid but who actually likes putting a known blood knight on edge.
Solomon Wreath wanted to be the change necromancers needed to be one of the rightful powerhouse of the sorcerer world.

#1 Underrated Characters
The Monster Hunters !
basically just a bunch of long-winded headcanons
Donegan grew up in a magic-family – his parent’s and some of his extended family had immigrated from Pakistan before he was born. He was the second oldest child of six, all of them mostly fluent in Punjabi and English. Donegan, having ended up living a life of travel, can now speak (not fluently, but enough to get by and hold simple conversation) around eight languages (including French, Chinese, and Russian)
Gracious grew up with his mother and two younger siblings – his father had died when he was young. His dad was the one that brought magic into the family, genetically, and was also how Gracious learnt magic, through what his dad has taught his mother. He had to work to help support his family from a young age; they had to move around quite a lot as well to find work, so when he became a Monster Hunter, he was used to the travelling. Gracious can speak Swahili, as his mother and father were both from Uganda, as well as English, Japanese, French and a bit of Punjabi, taught to him by Donegan.
Gracious and Donegan have only been friends since they were both in their early 120’s (now in their mid-350’s), but act as though they’ve been together since birth. They know everything about each other, from the three moles forming a perfect straight line (seriously, it’s dead straight, they tested it and everything) above Donegan’s left hip, to each other’s favourite foods, so well that they can practically order for each other at restaurants. They practically share the one brain, and always know what the other is thinking, can communicate just through facial expressions, and in a fight, are practically unstoppable, as they always know what the other needs, and when.
Recently, they have started a YouTube channel on the Secret Magic Internet™ where they do a show that’s a mix of Buzzfeed Unsolved and Coyote Peterson, called Monster Hunting for Nerds (despite the fact that it’s not an instructional series). They talk about the amazing adventures/jobs they’ve done, and get some footage of some of the monsters they find on the job. They shoot it mainly in their basement, partly for The Effect (Gracious’ idea), and also because it has good lighting. Among the students as Corrival Academy, it’s very popular, as it’s one of the only magic-centric shows available to them (the business of sorcerers making shows is still quite new). Their most impressive feat on the show is the fact that Gracious has worn a different shirt in each video, sometimes multiple different ones, and has never been seen in the same shirt. Many fans believe this to mean that Gracious has over 50 different shirts, all of them related to some comic, movie or show. (also just adding this incase anyone bring it up: im pretty sure there was a text post where someone said imagine them doing bf unsolved ? i just kinda developed and changed the idea a bit but like the basic concept wasnt my original hc)
his true motivations. this counts as both my dead men week and villain week contribution.

SW#1: favourite underrated character
synecdoche is lovely and i’ve always been fond of her, and i think it’s sweet that she got upgraded to her first name in spx. and y’already know she can be trusted because she went independent from the high sanctuary.
i remember not liking kenny for a long time, but i guess as i’ve grown older i’ve come to appreciate him more. i hope he’s okay, wherever he is.
