The stadium (or coliseum, if you prefer) used to have clouds and pillars when you entered. I don't quite remember the cutscene but you didn't have to chase lights. I think the floor rose up through the clouds at the end. At one point, it counted the butterflies you collected on two banners, one red and one blue (butterflies later changed to small blue orbs due to multiple butterflies causing problems seeing) and was more of an actual race or game than it is now.

I managed to land on a pillar here as the cutscene activated. You couldn’t reach them before it started and I just landed on it by chance. You’d just bump around in the clouds as the scene ran. Notice how plain the coliseum was at first. Nothing like it is now after the season of AURORA.
