With weary steps through snowy winds, Starscream scanned the area for Skyfire. Nothing but static came back. The seeker couldn’t give up, he would rather reach the well of allsparks before letting Skyfire parish on some icy planet. With a huff, Starscream checked to see if the emergency signal was still going through. Thankfully, the signal could make it through the storm. Hopefully someone got it soon, and sent a rescue team for them. Even if it was to prove that they couldn’t handle being explorers.
It hurt, knowing their first mission would be considered a failure. That it was going to be used in propaganda for the functionalists. But at least they would be alive, and fighting for a second chance. Maybe they could try again, and go to a better planet, an older planet. They could prove that they could be scientists and explorers, with a fair chance.
Starscream shook his helm, he couldn’t focus on what if’s at the moment. He needed to find Skyfire, then he could worry. With a huff, Starscream did the only thing he could think of to find his partner, “Skyfire! If you’re out there, say something!”
“Star?” Skyfire yelled back, that was good. Skyfire was still conscious. That ment he could get him to a save spot while they waited for a rescue team.
“Sky! Keep yelling!” Starscream yelled as he trudged forward. The seeker thought he heard the shuttle right in front of him.
“Star! You need to get out of here!” Skyfire yelled, sounding louder. That was a good sign, that ment that Starscream was on the right track, “Get back to Cybertron!”
“Not without you!” Starscream yelled, “We’re going to get back to Cybertron, together!”
“I think it’s too late for me,” Skyfire sounded softer. Panic gripped the seeker’s spark, was he going the wrong way? Was Skyfire buried under too much snow and ice? Was he too late to save his partner?”
“It’s not too late!” Starscream yelled, panic lacing his voice, “we can still make it out of here! I sent out a distress signal! We just have to wait for them to come for us!”
“Star, I’m stuck!” The shuttle yelled out. In the distance, Starscream could see specks of red. Skyfire was so close.
“I’ll get you out!” Starscream yelled, now sprinting forward. He had to get Skyfire, he had to save him.
“Star, you need to go before the ice freezes you to the ground,” Skyfire said once Starscream got to his side. Ice had fully inclosed one of the shuttle’s peds, and was starting to freeze the other stabilizer. “I don’t know what’s going to happen if both of us get stranded here.”
“The rescue bots will come for us,” Starscream said as he tried to break the ice with his claws. It seemed as soon as he got a chunk of ice off, more was starting to form. The seeker could feel his wing joints start to freeze. “The distress signal is still going strong and being received by Cybertron!”
“Please,” Skyfire said softly as he held Starscream’s servo, “save yourself, come back after the storm.”
With the ice forming around his thrusters, and his wings stiff in place, Starscream gave Skyfire a soft smile, “it’s too late for that.”
“Star, I’m-“ Skyfire started to say.
“Make it up to me after we’re back on Cybertron,” Starscream interrupted, a soft smile on his faceplates. “Someone will come for us.” The ice was in casing them both, and warnings were popping up. It wouldn’t be long before stasis protocols were activated. The seeker could only hope the rescue team got there soon, before the distress call ran out of power.

In the remains of a destroyed building, a light blinked on a still in tact hardware. With the monitor destroyed, any data was unreadable.
“We’re lucky this is still in tact, “Wheeljack said as he pushed away some rubble, “after that awful attack.”
“So Megatron built enough following to start a war,” Perceptor said solemnly, “and Alpha Trion passed on the matrix of leadership.”
“Let’s hope this war isn’t long,” Wheeljack grumbled as he started to take apart the station, “A fragile Cybertron could destroy itself.”
“Right,” Perceptor said, “let’s get this back to the base as soon as possible, any resource is a good resource.”
