The concrete jungle is a wild untamed metropolis. The ways in which we navigate the wilds of suburban areas are changing daily. We are looking for easier and better ways to travel through these metropolis’s. There are cars, trains, walking, subways, buses, and bikes. Most major cities around the world make use of some if not all of these methods of travel. However, with all these forms of transportation, there is still congestion. There are delays and traffic jams, no matter how you travel in these cities. Is there a better way? If only we could travel through the skyscrapers by vines or spider webs.
A new form of traveling is making its way into an Israeli city, Tel Aviv. SkyTran is hitting the streets, so to speak. Tel Aviv is planning on having a 400 meter test track operating this year. With hopes of expanding the track system over more areas in the next three years, reaching into Europe and Asia.
The SkyTran will take up less space. A track system will be raised above the streets. These tracks will be able to be built on sidewalks, buildings, and any place that can be thought of. There will be many loading platforms dotted around the city, so users can easily catch a ride.
There are skeptics about this new form of transportation. The argument can be made that this system will just add to the chaos. It will be just more infrastructure that will require money and maintenance. Another concern is the population of an area, and will there be enough stops, or will people have to walk or still depend on a car?
SkyTran is definitely a great system for condensed areas. A pod that will get you from point A to point B. This pod weighs only 300 pounds and uses a third of the electricity that a hybrid does. To hail one of these pods you can use your smartphone. You can also set a schedule for when you need to use it. With this in the near future, we hope it will reduce traffic, stress, and everything else that goes along with congestive cities.
Hopefully this get your brain juice flowing.
