Erwin Smith is a very classy man. He does not hesitate to spoil you with a night filled with a romantic candle lit dinner (you know, those places where you have to book out months in advance?) and a stage play whether it be a big production or a local company. He's such a gentleman of course, so he pays for everything even if you fight him on it. That also includes any clothes you might want to wear that evening, jewelry included - not to mention how he'll always go out of his way to make sure he matches with you. Well dressed with his favorite girl on his arm? God, he is so in love with you, you can tell by the way he looks at you when you're so focused on the characters moving around the stage.

Great! Okay, so my man is Osamu Dazai. Now, despite him being in the habit of proposing quite dramatic and self-destructive date options to prospective lovers, this outing will keep us both safely on dry land.

Dazai and I share a love of coffee shops, books and writing. We like exploring cities and taking in the views over the water. We love to discover secret bars or hidden speakeasies where we wax philosophical over scotch on ice. We’re neither early birds nor night owls as we rarely sleep. I’d call us cat nappers (and our personalities are rather feline-coded too). We are not dog people. We take a while to warm up to others and vice versa.

In terms of aesthetic, I’d go dark academia? Trench coat and shirts for him. And bandages, of course, distinguish him. Brogues and knitwear and satchels for me.

Dazai was an enigma. He was dramatic. Certifiably insane. Intelligent. Funny. He was perfectly imperfect and you love him for it. Every part of him made it fun to explore the nooks and crannies of the ever expansive city that you live in. As a compromise, you both love to visit the most obscure and niche places, typically filled with the smell of cigarettes, sounds of jazz, and the taste of warm auburn drinks but sometimes there were bitter coffee dates or waterfront picnics. No matter where you both went, hours were spent analyzing philosophical ideals, butting heads sometimes but that was part of the fun, wasn't it? Spending time with him meant never looking at a clock, both of your world intermingled with each other as if nothing else existed. What a beautiful way to live.
