Skydiver is the forgotten son of Skywarp and Thundercracker. And because of that, he's thought to have very big potential. That's why Starscream became his tutor.

Since Starscream was a very experienced seeker in any kind of attacks or maneuvers, he was the best one to educate Skydiver about it. But Skydiver's attention went elsewhere. He had admired Starscream long before he became his tutor and he was kinda Skydiver's celebrity crush. And now his dreams came true and he could listen to his secret crush teach him how to bomb a base.

Skydiver never told anyone, until he once got drunk with his friends in a weird untrustful bar in Iacon. Starscream stumbled across him by accident and when he saw what was going on, he got protective, since it was still his pupil and he was supposed to take care of him. So Starscream took Skydiver home. On the way there, Skydiver told him about everything he felt towards Starscream in his drunkenness. Starscream has then spent the whole night lying a berth with a drunk bot who had a crush on him, while he was trying to figure out how to explain all of this to Skywarp and Thundercracker. And how to explain to himself that he started to like the bot back.

About their age difference situation, Skydiver is a grown bot (human 20's) while Starscream would be have about 40 in human years. Plus Skywarp and Thundercracker are older than Starscream.
