HAMMY'S POSTING. Not sure if this will answer your question but, without repeating URLs (because I'd like to mention as many of my mutuals as possible), @skyfcx and @gir1stoy's replies are as narratively rich as they're lengthy! I find it inspiring how they can write dozens and dozens of paragraphs without so much breaking a sweat! Like lbr here, sometimes it takes me a couple hours to write 20-25 lines, augh. And just because their posts are long it doesn't mean the content's not plentiful, or the pacing isn't good; which is why I will always try to go out of my way to match the length of their replies. I think Aaron and Midna deserve that and more! I also enjoy the challenge? Trying something new? It's one of the reasons I find my threads with them to be so memorable (besides the character dynamics) because they push me to take a step out of my comfort zone once in a while. I enjoy Aaron's descriptions and how he can immerse you and your muse in Tails' world, I enjoy how in-tune Midna is with Ragatha's inner self; their posts, as a result, end up being long for drastically different reasons, but good reasons nonetheless.

HAMMY'S POSTING. Very loose answer: let's talk about Dash shenanigans. Back when I had just gotten back into RPing, so last year, I'd screenshot random bits and pieces from the Dash that would make me laugh and show them to my non-RP friends (they know about this blog too, I don't hide my hobbies). I'd screenshot from @maaskuline's Johnny Bravo quite often. He just has the talent to rile up the Dash and cause everyone to comment on his posts, y'know? It'd even happen to me back at my older blog! I remember one time where Johnny posted this AWFUL take about swimming and everyone jumped him immediately 😭 or that time he called dads "overrated" and people either agreed or were really mad because they love their dads; I just love it when folks wake up the Dashboard and get everyone else's muses to comment on literally anything, it takes me back to the mid-2010s when that was the norm. Ace also just KNOWS Johnny very well, so at one point I was giving my non-RP friends little "Johnny life updates" because they'd wanna see more from him lmao.

   why was it even doing this.

   it's an act of rebellion, that much it knew. an intentional one at that. yet even still, contradictory as it was, it's still one that makes the robotic copy's metaphorical blood boil. why was it here. why did it stoop so low to go to him. to go off and do its own thing without orders wasn't exactly uncommon / but to end up here of all places on its own accord certainly was / an act of betrayal that went against its very coding. despite this fact, here metal sonic still stands — still making its presence known when it could simply just walk away and act like it never happened.

   it shouldn't be here, doing this / it feels like admitting defeat in a way / but where else could it possibly go ? it's not as if he'd be the one to do it — but he certainly had better odds with this pest. too late to go back now.

   he's completely ignorant to the ensuing panic going on within, nor the growing armada of weaponry being assembled due to his presence, but it's not as if metal would even bat an eye to it anyway. not a single ounce of surprise is found within circuits when tails, living up to his genius, opts to not greet the well established killer robot face to face. smart decision. but what is surprising is metal's lack of ... anything, really. he doesn't react upon the sight ( especially not with expected violence ) , doesn't move aside from head turning with attention being drawn at kit's method of communicating.

   there's a familiar fury in it's gaze, but at the same time ... it's unfamiliar. miraculously not aimed at the fox whatsoever, and certainly not at the hedgehog who wasn't even here to begin with — but it definitely could still be felt, even with the massive distance between the two.

   the kid was surely smart enough to catch onto the context clues. if metal wanted a fight, it would've had it by now. he would not be as cordial ( if one could even call it that ) as a weapon for war could be to an enemy like tails — he'd have approached with guns blazing so much that the lab likely wouldn't have even had a door for him to be stood at right now.

   nothing on hand, no chaos emerald or any other sort of doctor's property in fox's possession that he would want back, no badniks stood with him ( not that he'd even need them ) . he's not even stanced in a way that would suggest aggression / aside from clawed hands balled into fists so tight it's a miracle they're not shaking from the sheer strength behind it. the words metal sonic and peace were never meant to coexist — but this was about as close to it as it could get.

   so what in gaia's name could it possibly be doing here ?

   it's then he finally responds — an onslaught of robotic beeps returned to other's questioning. not that tails would be able to understand it.

“ Want? Want? “ the demon laughs boisterously, pacing around the fox with an expression of wide-eyed glee. Oh, the kit’s rampant denial—it would serve comedy for a whole century! But Mephiles knows he won’t live that long. A reptilian eye glares into his mind, his soul, serving a judgment that sees something Tails apparently does not. Or does... “ The thoughts are in your HEAD. Do so TELL me, fox, how have you thought about doing this? How many WAYS have you thought about ending that fool once and for all? If the answer is more than one, then you’re waging a losing battle! “

The demon turns, pacing in front of Tails with his arms, his palms outstretched.

“ I KNOW how you think! Back in the workshop… I remember that look in your eyes, “ he points out, eyes narrowed as one hand clenches into a fist, the other hefting an index finger in the fox’s direction. “ I remember, TAILS. Perhaps you don’t, but I’ll recollect for us both! “

“ What’s. Stopping. You, “ he whispers, leering forward. “ All this talk of monsters… Kill the Hydra and no one will ever have to worry about it again! “

The fox had been hard at work for hours, trying to undo the damage of the day's events. Gemerl had decided to be a pain in the neck as he was performing a routine checkup on Omega, when the two of them had decided to have it out right then and there. This caused the workshop to become a complete mess, and the Warp Ring Generator to take some damage. Thankfully it was nothing he couldn't fix, but it was a lengthy process that he was only now starting to see the end of.

The final panel was placed. Using an impact wrench the bolts were tightened on securely, and with that, the machine was ready to work. Wiping the sweat from his brow and double checking everything with the device, Tails smiles at his handiwork.

"Another job well done," he muses to himself before turning to the control panel. "Now... let's do a quick test before I call it for the day."

It was a rather complex device that was mainly used for getting around his own Zone, but he had often used it to get to other zones as well. A large machine that essentially creates artificial warp rings with the same properties as their physical counterparts, but with an apparently infinite amount of uses, rather than one-and-done. The only real downsides were that it was a massive machine that was tethered to Tails' own workshop, and that it had to warm up before it could create these portals. But in a time of peace and for a man trying to explore the multiverse, neither was really an issue.

It didn't take too long for it to reach full power, and after inputting a specific set of coordinates, he throws the switch. A crack of electricity between the two large prongs of the device causes the falsified ring to form and expand... but something about this one was different. He had intended to open the portal just outside of the Ski Resort near Ice Cap Village.

He did not, however, anticipate that the portal would be intercepted across time and space.

SHE AND THE SNOW WERE BITTER ENEMIES. The biting chill is among the few things that could deter her, given the right circumstances. Yet the folly of her determination had made it hard for her to turn back in the first place. The gales and swathes of fresh powder cast a swirling fog that never seemed to let up. Mari would not go down—at least, not without a fight, but she would quietly think to herself how finding another had renewed her and her beast's vigor to survive this storm. They had endured far worse before, after all.

After finding the abandoned homestead, Ratha had taken shelter at the side of the cabin, where an extended roof shielded him and abandoned supplies from the elements. It does little to buffer the wind, but the razewing couldn't possibly fit within the cabin itself. At least he had his inner flame and some blankets from his saddle to keep him warm.

While the lynian(?) youth fiddled with the electrical wiring, Mari was busy inspecting the cabin. Conjoined in a small side room to the decorative foyer was a kitchenette that look just as worn out as the rest of the house. The windows, coated in a thin layer of frost on the outside, were lined with abandoned cobwebs. Their creators were either hibernating or long dead.

Though they were spared from the raging blizzard outside, the temperature didn't fare much better in here . . . a similar layer of frost stuck to the sides of a steel sink basin. Sediment from tap that had evaporated away clung around the faucet's ends, and streamed in a streak to the drain.

Mari brushes her hand across the glass of a window, wiping away the dust and frost that sticks to it. She can barely see outside. As the lights finally flicker with a spark of life, her reflection casts on the pane.

"Whoever lived here had to have left in a hurry, right?" She observed, turning away from the kitchenette to face the fox kit in the other room. Clasping her arms and hugging them to her chest, Mari rubs her hands up and down in an effort to warm herself up, and brush away whatever snow still lingered on her gear.

If there were any edible rations to be had in those cabinets, which would be extremely lucky, she would check for them later. For now, getting warm was their highest priority. "Yeah, I gotcha." Mari answers through a breath. She leans over the younger, fishing through her pouch until she finally pulls out a bottle of red liquid, only a quarter of the way full. "Here. There's not much left but you can have it. Spray it on your body. Get yourself warm." Her last bottle of Hot Mist is what had helped carry her through this storm, but she was more than willing to sacrifice it if it meant helping another. With that, she makes for the door, and stumbles back outside.

Near the cabin was an abandoned shed. Any wood sitting out exposed in this weather would probably be too wet for a fire, so she figured right there would be a good start. The buffeting winds deafen the sound of a wooden barricade being snapped in two as she broke into the structure. Before long, she'd stumble back into the cabin with her prize; an arm full of stacked wood and what appeared to be a small batch of dried hay. She figured they could use it for kindling.

"You get more lights on?" Asks Mari, as she sets the wood down by the fireplace.

Maybe in another world Metal would have foregone any and all pleasantries as soon as the windows were reached. Window would be shattered. Workshop would be in tatters, various self-defense mechanisms and gizmos meant to help protect the relatively frail boy from a killer destructive robot activating and engaging in a freaky, messy fight. But this is not that world. Surprisingly! Under no normal circumstances should this be happening. But this isn't normal circumstances.

Far from it, and that's likely evident the second Metal even bothered talking to him. A usually silent machine now displays not only a sense of curiosity but also asking questions that are... FAR beyond the expectations of its intended motivations.

It seems he has very little interest in answering questions, as the fox boy's words fall on completely deaf ears. Metal even seems to be displaying some (familiar) gestures reminiscent of Sonic-- hand on chin, tapping foot, gaze down at the ground. It's like hostility was the furthest thing from its mind. Then it turns to face him again - those glowing red eyes glower and brighten-- and he speaks..
