it  felt  as  though  her  heart  was  no  longer  beating  in  her  chest,  staring  up  at  the  man  that  she  loved  with  wide  eyes.   the  man  who  had  done  horrible,  terrible  things. obi-wan  had  told  her  what  had  happened  in  the  temple  &  yet  here  she  was,  begging  for  him  to  come  back  to  her.   there  she  was,  considering  what  he  was  saying.   padmé  took  an  unsteady  waddle  back,  her  hand  placed  on  the  large  swell  of  her  stomach.   nothing  mattered  to  her  more  than  the  lives  of  her  children  now,  than  ensuring  that  they  had  the  life  that  they  deserved.   if  she  stood  against  him  ...  they  would  not  get  that.   but  if  he  ...  if  he  was  right,  if  he  could  defeat  the  sith  lord  ...  then  he  was  right.   the  republic  that  she  had  been  trying  to  build  for  her  entire  life  could  happen  underneath  her  guidance,  even  if  it  would  not  be  the  exact  same  as  rulers.   but  naboo  had  wanted  her  to  stay  past  her  term,  considered  the  constitutional  loophole  that  would  have  allowed  her  to  become  a  hereditary  monarchy.

she  could  save  her  children  if  she  agreed.   maybe  she  could  save  anakin,  too,  find  the  goodness  that  she  knew  was  still  inside  of  him.   it  had  to  be  there.   one  of  the  biggest  lessons  in  politics  that  she  had  learned  was  that  she  could  not  fix  everything  at  once.   but  here,  now?   she  had  the  ability  to  change  a  few  things.   prioritizing  was  the  only  appropriate  thing  to  do.

“ani...”   hesitation  still  marks  her,  until  she  feels  movement  inside  of  her.   their  child.  she  had  to  do  this  for  them.   she  must.

“do  you  realize  the  weight  of  what  we  would  be  doing?”   her  brow  furrowed,  her  chin  dropping  down  slightly  but  her  gaze  doesn’t.   “ruling  the  galaxy.   to  truly  bring  peace  to  the  republic,  it  would  come  at  a  great  cost.”   a  deep breath,  already  decided  on  one  thing.   it  was  an  easy  decision  to  come  to,  really.   “you  would  have  to  kill  palpatine,  if  that’s  what  you  really want.   we  can  do  nothing  for  the  galaxy  so  long  as  he  continues  to  try  &  control  it.”

Eyes remained CLOSED, and Draven snorts softly, arms crossed over his chest but he remained UNMOVING. There was something SPECIAL about LUX—He didn’t really understand himself, and god forbid anyone caught him being SOFT. But, whatever. For right now, he decided to RELISH in this moment with her.

WITH  FISTS  CLENCHED,  a  soreness  living  almost  constantly  in  the  knuckles  of  her  hands,  and  blood  still  drying  into  the  cloth  wraps  around  them,  vi  thinks  she  knows  exactly  what  defines  hate.  more  than  the  enforcer  before  her.

with  wide  eyes,  rey  stared  back  at  the  hand  that  was  extended  her  way. her  bottom  lip  trembled  slightly,  heart  racing  in  her  chest:  no  longer  just  from  the  adrenaline  that  had  flooded  their  system  from  the  fight  against  snoke’s  personal  guards,  but  from  the  possibilities  that  were  suddenly  laid  out  in  front  of  them.   she  didn’t  have  to  be  alone  anymore.   she  could  be  ...  understood.   that  was  the  one  thing  that  she  had  wanted  for  the  entirety  of  her  life  &  never  had.   he  was  the  very  last  person  that  she  should  have  found  it  in,  a  fact  that  she  was  painfully  aware  of.   even  if  she  had  not  been,  they  were  certain  that  there  were  plenty  of  others  in  their  life  that  would  have  been  happy  to  point  it  out  from  him. yet  she  can’t  ignore  the  possibilities,  the  sudden  burn  of  tears  in  her  eyes,  the  deepest  desire  that  underlay  everything  that  she  was  feeling:  she  wanted  this.

the  words  play  &  play  in  their  head,  over  &  over  again  until  they  were  practically  dizzy  of  staring  at  his  gloved  hand.   maybe  this  was  the  way  that  she  saved  him.  or  maybe  this  was  the  way  that  she  saved  herself,  that  she  could  be  more  than  nobody.   deep  down,  rey  knew  that  was  what  they  needed.

“what  if  i  do?”   it  felt  good  to  give  into  temptation,  for  just  a  moment.   “what  if  i  take  your  hand?”   she  stepped  forward,  her  gaze  meeting  his.
