Meet Skylar Maxwell, an seventeen year old Loser. He is described as aloof, competent and harsh, and looks like Nico Tortorella. He is currently a junior at Matilda Golden’s Preparatory Academy.

When George Maxwell married Margot Jones, he had promised her the world. And as Maxwell Constructions grew in size and wealth, came along the pride and joy of their life; their sons. And indeed, Margot felt like she had the world.

The Maxwells have had humble beginnings, a teaching they instill in their sons. Skylar, older to his brother Austin by five minutes, took to the humble part of their humble beginnings. Even though they were twins, Skylar always saw where his parents began and where they were now. But he was particularly close to his aunt Marie, a former Golden in the prep school. She had always been sickly, but so pretty, and Skylar always wondered why that was.

But after her passing away, the boy was angry. He was angry at the world for taking away the one person that he loved, angry at the school he was going to go the year after for ruining his aunt. He wasn’t sure what made him draw such a conclusion, but here he was. So, when he came to the Academy, he did everything in his power to become a bottom feeder, the runt of the social crowd. Which worked. Now, he works as an apprentice at a tattoo shop, and keeps his head down but his ear to the ground.

Connections include:

Andre DeAngelo → Good friend. They share the same inhibitions about the place, somehow finding friendship in their negativity. Been through some good and bad times, there is no one else Skylar would trust in this school more than him.

Diana Raudenfeld → Ex girlfriend, still the love of his life. It might have been over a little while since their break up, but he still misses her. Even when she says would like to have nothing to do with him.

Austin Maxwell → His biological twin brother. Skylar only wishes the best for his little brother, keeping his distance from the crowd that he hung with. He doesn’t like his brother’s ideas of pulling him into the popular crowd, and really, he doesn’t wish to join them at all.
