“You’re right about that.” He commented with a gentle smile. Brian was enjoying her witty charm. Not many women could keep up with his flirting advances without easily giving in. But from what he already gathered, she was going to make him work for it. Fair deal. Because he was intrigued by her. He felt a need to get to know her better. And hopefully the work he’d have to do for Verone wouldn’t keep him from doing just that. He chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders. “Guess that depends on how busy my new boss is gonna keep me. But I’d definitely like to take you out sooner rather than later.”
Brian looked around again. It was strangely quiet for this time of day, making him uneasy. “Doubt it. A guy like him only cares about one thing. His money and making sure his luxurious lifestyle isn’t being disturbed by anyone or anything. Greed like that has consequences.” His ears twitched slightly as he heard the roar of engines in the distance. Sounded like their competition was finally making their way into the area. But they were still too far behind to even remotely have any sort of advantage over them. They may have their own problems with the law, but they didn’t drive and maneuver through the streets like the real underground racers that occupied the city. They weren’t much competition at all which made it kinda boring.
Brian watched her slowly as she examined the folder before handing it back to him. He was actually surprised she was giving him such advice. But she did have a point about all of this. ‘Be careful. Do what you need to, get the money, then get as far away from him as you can.’ Simple enough. And that’s exactly what he intended to do. (aside for providing Customs with what info these needed to close their case on Verone) “That’s the plan.” Brian nodded firmly. He heard the roar of engines again, getting closer. “Sounds like the party about nearly arrived. But I think you and I about overstayed our visit. We should probably get out of here.” He suggested as he started to move towards his car. “I’m sure I’ll find you around the races.” He turned toward her and cocked an eyebrow. He shook his head and chuckled. “Prize? Nah. Don’t be a handout like that. I don’t mind working hard for it.”
As the sound of engines caught her ears, she sighed softly. It was clear her time with him was coming to an end, which wasn't what she wanted. Sure, she wanted to see him again, but she was more worried than anything. He was now working for a man she didn't trust, even though she knew it was his choice to take the envelope back. He could have waited for the other drivers and hand off the envelope if he wanted, letting someone else have the bragging rights. She just didn't see that happening, not in this circumstances. She could only hope he knew what he was doing -- after all, they did have a date to plan.
"I know we don't know each other that well, so please watch out for yourself. I wouldn't trust him to do right by you. I'm sure he'll kill you without hesitating." Perhaps if it had been anyone else, she wouldn't have cared much, though there was something about him. There was something making her want to keep him safe and she didn't understand why. "I don't want to be hearing you've never come back. The way you drive, I could use that competition at the races." Her lips curved into a smirk as she looked back towards his car. "And I could use a new car." She was only teasing, wanting to make light of the now stressful situation they both seemed to be in. Whether she liked it or not, she was a part of this, especially if Verone found out she was the winner.
Walking back to her car, she opened the drivers side door, though not making a move to get back in. "Mm, if that's the case, you have a lot of work to do." Who knows, maybe it could be fun. It was clear, that even after all her playing hard to get, that he was still interesting. Most gave up when she wouldn't give in. "If you have time, come to the races tonight. I'll be there in case you forget what a real driver looks like.
