Is a motivation letter basically just why you’re motivated to go to the school?If so, make sure you look up lots of info on the school’s website. What kinds of special resources do they have? What makes the school great? Do they boast about their great faculty, their small class size, their collaboration and student activities? Do they have a great library, great science buildings, great advising? What major are you thinking about (doesn’t have to be set in stone, but good to say that you have a plan), and what does the school offer for that program? What classes are you most excited about? What will you bring to the school? Your passions, your determination, your hard work ethic, and your desire to learn and contribute to the academic environment are all great things to highlight here.

For the video presentation, honestly I have never heard of students needing to do this. Is it supposed to be a performance? Or a getting to know you? Or…? In any case, wear professional clothing, smile, make eye contact with the camera, edit a lot, and practice a lot! Short and to the point is probably best, but make sure your personality shines through.

For a skype interview, make sure your skype works well, you’re in a place with no distractions or noise, good internet connection, it’s a well lit room, and you’re wearing professional clothes. Put googly eyes at the top of your screen near the webcam so you make eye contact. Practice! Think about potential interview questions, and also think about questions you want to ask them. Smile and be polite!

While the impeachment of South Korea’s president is a serious affair, we all needed a little laugh at the end of the day. Who better to provide it than a go-to source for many of us Korea reporters, Bob Kelly. Kelly was appearing on the BBC via Skype when his younger family members decided they, too, wanted to appear on international television. 

As someone who works from home and has two small children as well as unruly cats, this is pretty much a regular occurrence. How it hasn’t happened while I’m broadcasting live yet is a mystery to me.

The 3 Attribute Question

So I just finished my first Skype interview and I got asked the "What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?" question and do you know what I thought of first?!?! Do you know what I said?!?! I said "Loyal, hardworking, and kind". Which I suppose does describe me but I probably not the best idea to include loyal. Just since I'm not sure how loyalty is needed in a summer internship but oh well. But you know why I'm making a post about this? Because Pottermore has sorted me into Hufflepuff and I basically just the used house traits in a job interview. So we'll see if I get the job or not, but that happened.
