I drew this yesterday, but I wanted to wait for @creatingblackcharacters to officially launch #CBC DTIYS so here's a very messy Hestia redesign. I don't know much about Hestia so I'm largely pulling from what I read on Wikipedia, as well as statues of her, and used those to reference changes to the Hades design. I wanted to keep her Blackness (i colour picked that awful grey and saturated it), her old age and fat and the vitiligo, so I hope my attempt shows that.

The statue I was referencing had a very long, rectangular nose and figure in general, her hair seemed to have big pieces on either side, and the hood/covering on her head seemed important so I tried to keep those. The fire on the hair isn't the most creative interpretation and I couldn't draw the fabric covering very well (i tried a version where the smoke from her hair was a veil which looked eh but I've shared it anyway).
I drew this in my notes app so i dont have a small enough brush to add lighter coloured details on the dark hair, but her hair is in braids that are joined into two ponytails at the back and turn into fire at the ends. I tried to show the braid with the melanin-lacking hair, because the darker outlines don't really appear unless i turn my brightness up. I think she'd style the wisps on her forehead to look like flames which is what I tried to go for but ik it doesn't convey very well lol.
I kept her coloured eyes but instead of just red I changed it to oranges to hopefully potray more warmth, more like a fire.
largely, i hope i have drawn a warm older Black woman. Hestia being a Goddess who took no partners and had a solid disinterest in sex/romance is really cool for me (acearo) so i hope i could portray her respectfully.
*since this exercise is intended to bring feedback, I'd like to ask that unless your critism is in regards to something I've portrayed that is harmful/potentially harmful (eg. racist), please keep other art critisms to yourself,thank you!
