Cats Paw or Bears Paw Nebula. Just a quick one. I managed a couple of hours, there's fainter nebulosity in the background a few more hours would easily bring that out. The cats paw nebula is an emission nebula and star forming region. Tarantula Nebula This deep-sky object is incredibly fascinating! I did a bit of research and i have leant, it was first discovered in the 1750s by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille. It has an apparent magnitude of 8. Which is pretty bright! According to Wikipedia, if the Tarantula Nebula was as close to us as Orion Nebula it would cast visable shadows! Wow. It is one of the largest Hii regions and is the most active starburst region within our local group (area of the universecontaining our galaxy and other nearby galaxies) . The centre of the Nebula is lit by a star cluster (NGC2070) which is estimated to be 450,000 solar masses (a unit of measurement derived from the mass of our sun). There are supernova remnants amongst all the gas and nebulosity, the closest observed being 1987A. This is about 9 hours of integration time taken over multiple nights using: Skywatcher F5 750mm Newtonian Skywatcher EVO Lux 62ED ASI533 OSC Saxon NEQ6 pro Optolong L-enhance filter Optolong cls-ccd filter Nexsus .75 reducer/corrector QHY5L-IIM camera and scope for guiding. Another frame from the ASI224. Only about an hour again. Using the same settings as Carina, 20 sec subs and 120 gain. If I was just starting out and had limited funds I wouldn't be mad at this camera and these results.. I am really really loving the fov. I definitely want to go deeper!! I can safely use my ASI533 and the 224 with a 2xBarlow and occasionally binning, depending on the set up, to about 2000mm. But I think I'll look for a little Skywatcher Newtonian that's around 1500mm because they are faster. But I might also go for a Celestron Schmiddy. Homunculus Nebula. Located about 7,500 light years from earth. This feature was formed by a massive gas ejection from the star Eta Carinae dubbed 'The Great Eruption'. Which was observed on Earth between 1838-1845. How incredibly awesome it would have been to witness and record such an event. At the time, this event resulted in Eta Carinae becoming the second brightest star in the sky after Sirius. This near supernova explosion produced two polar lobes (known as a bipolar nebula), and a large but thin disk, all moving outward at up to 670 km/s!! W.I.P - M45 test run. So I started on my first ever mosaic!!.. The princesses 👸 of the sky ✨ Pleiades. My mounts battery pack died just as I was starting on the third panel 🙃 😑 🤦‍♀️. What you see here is two panels, each at 34mins using 90sec subs and no filters. Decided to use the two panels I had to practice stitching it together as I've been advised that aspect is the difficult part 😅. I tried a few different ways but I found what appears to be the easiest is to process each panel separately ensuring that the exposure, levels, etc look even. Then loading as a stack in photoshop and merging it. Then I just tidied up the cross over lines. I then did some global adjustments like saturation, sharpness, noise reduction and a little extra stretching. I probably put in more effort then need with the editing haha 😄 considering its not finished!!
