Yo, so decided to actually try my hand at making mods instead of just downloading them (specifically for Bonelab), and a little something something the official Bonelab MarrowSDK Project Setup Guide didn’t mention is the necessity of having a Unity license. I don’t have one, and while they offer a free one the terms/conditions have some extremely sus wording. The two in question are (and I quote):

Do not make more than $100k in annual gross revenues, regardless of whether Unity Personal is being used for commercial purposes, or for an internal project or prototyping.

Have not raised funds in excess of $100k.

You might see that and think “yeah ok they’re just asking you not to make more than 100k off their product without paying for it, what’s the big deal?” Well, the big deal is the wording. They do not say “Do not make more than $100k in annual gross revenues [from selling products utilizing Unity and/or Unity derived assets]…”, they just say a flat ‘Do not have or make more than 100k dollars WHATSOEVER’. The devil’s in the details here.

Unity as a company has been pretty fucking scummy as of late, they literally bought what can be considered a malware company a few months ago because said company had been doing work on micro-transaction integration systems. Honestly speaking I might just can the whole endeavor because of it, which will curtail a potential future in 3d indie game development I might have otherwise transitioned into through this. I mean sure I’m a NEET that lives with their family so I have no income and like less than 5k total in my bank, but A) that can change eventually, and B) as I’m more or less a Dependent, I worry wether or not Unity will consider my household as a pseudo-corporation in regards to the legalese, not me specifically.

Any tips?
