        If there was anyone in the world that understood what Hope went through, it was Buffy. No one quite understood what it was like to be the only one of your kind that was tasked with keeping a school safe, except of course, the Slayer. No brainer. Hope wanted to talk to her about a million different things, but opening up had been hard for her for as long as she could remember. Didn’t mean that she didn’t want to TRY.

Once she found her, Hope took a deep breath and then just let it all come out. “I need some advice and trust me, I don’t usually ask anyone for anything unless I have no other choice. Wait...I know how that sounded. Let me start over: are you busy?”

          Was that too much to ask for, after everything they’ve gone through? It seemed reasonable to the brunette, especially given how they had yet to actually talk about things. If they were going to work together, be a team this time around, and not kill one another, they needed to talk. So as she stood there looking at Buffy, she nodded at the question. “Yeah. I’m not dumb, I know it’s gonna take time, but damn it, Buff...I don’t want a fuckin’ repeat of last time,” she sighed, referring to the rooftop in LA years ago. Angel wasn’t there to stand between them, to play referee so they had to do the adult thing and manage themselves.

Holding her hands out at her sides, Faith’s features softened. “I just wanna try to be friends, B. All I’m askin’...no ulterior motives, just me wantin’ to talk through the shit I did to you an’ try to find some middle ground...if there is any.”

Angel closed the door to his car and stood next to it, his fingers nervously brushing against each other. He’d managed to locate Buffy, still in Italy, and he few over as fast as he could. He didn’t know if she was still with the Immortal, but he knew he had to take the chance. He’d managed to avert yet another Apocalypse, though this one hadn’t been like any other he’d fought in. Dragons and demons of all kinds from the armies of Hell descended on Los Angeles and Angel stood before them alongside Spike, Gunn and Illyria. He’d survived, though he wasn’t sure how, and even after that spent nearly a year trying to heal from the injuries he’d sustained, and even now had a bit of a limp. 

He slowly made his way toward Buffy’s door and even while he stood in front of it he hesitated, his fist up near his ear. He shouldn’t be doing this. He shouldn’t be doing this. This was a bad idea. After he pulled in a deep breath, he finally knocked a few times and put his hands behind his back, fingers around his wrist as he rocked up on his toes. He hated being this nervous. Angel shook his head and turned around, “No, this...was a bad idea. So stupid..” he grumbled as he walked back toward his car.

               “   c’mon,  b  !   that  was  totally  my  kill.   ”   frustration  leaks  into  her  voice  as  the  last  puffs  of  vampire  ash  fall  to  the  ground.   “   i  mean,  not  that  i’d  usually  mind,  but  you’re  getting  extra  violent  tonight.   ”

EVEN  NOW,  AFTER  YEARS,  DECADES  REALLY.  he  has  an  effect  on  her.  she  wondered  that  maybe,  passing  the  years,  the  whole  epic  love  story  and  first  love  would  dim  down  but,  they  never  could  say  goodbye  on  their  own  terms  and  so,  they  never  said  it  at  all.  and  angel  speaks  and  she  feels  seventeen  again.  “I  don’t  regret  it  either.  and  I  would  do  it  again,  you  know,  if  I  had  to.”  because  she  got  to  know  him,  and  now,  as  they  sit  on  the  balcony  of  the  Hyperion,  she  knows,  she  wouldn’t  quit.

Angel looked at her, his eyes boring into hers when he spoke to her. He’d never regret a moment between them, even the terrible ones. A small smile curled the corners of his lips when she agreed, and he nodded, “Me too,” he whispered as he turned his head and looked out over the courtyard from the balcony. He sighed through his nose, attention going to his hands which were in his lap. “So...what if I said I wanted more moments?” he asked, his eyebrow arching as his thumb pressed against the middle of his opposite palm. “What if I want to do it all over again but...better....this time?”
