back here again for some fun time with pancakes.. before pancakes, we decided to order some yummy entrees first and i tried the cajun chicken chop with mushroom sauce, it comes with pancakes and poached egg, salad and some roasted potatoes. i love the potatoes, the chicken is pretty good, tender and juicy meat.

we ordered 4 batters, buttermilk, peanut butter, chocolate and a new flavor - pandan! which smells and taste awesome. totally had fun creating all sorts of drawings on the hot pan, would love to have more colors though. ahaha..

it’s a fun place where you can play with food, what’s not to love? XD

Slappy Cakes Introduces New Offerings

There is always that child in us that continuously wants to explore and discover new things to do and learn. I may be an amateur cook at home but I never get to play around with my food, not unless I want to get a big sermon out of my mom. Now, there is a place where kids and kids at heart can unleash their creative side and even get praised for playing and designing their own stack of pancakes. 

Slappy Cakes, the popular international all-day breakfast joint originating from Portland, USA in 2009, offers a one-of-a-kind interactive dining experience. With griddles built into each table, customers have the opportunity to cook their own pancakes right at their table, offering a fun-filled experience for the entire family. This was my first time to dine at Slappy Cakes and it could not have come at a better time as The Hungry Kat was invited to try out its new offerings meant to provide its patrons with more delicious choices. 

One of the new items being featured is the Pancake Sampler (P350) which includes smaller servings of chocolate, peanut butter, and red velvet flavored pancake batter in mini 5 oz. bottles. Before, you could only order a bigger 8 oz. bottle of pancake batter which is good enough for the entire table. But now, you can get to sample all three flavors with just one order.

It was my first time to try the do-it-yourself pancake that Slappy Cakes is famous for, so I got the bottle of Red Velvet pancake batter and started to do my work.

Yehey! Success on my very first attempt! Yes, I know it is not that difficult to do a heart-shaped pancake but at least I made it cute. I then tried to make a few more creative designs for my next pancake creations.

What’s nice about the Pancake Sampler is that it allows diners to taste, cook, and play with more batter flavors and colors in just one order. You can be more creative with your pancake combinations. This one should have been a cute smiley face but it ended up looking more like a monkey.

Slappy Cakes is not just about pancakes though, as it offers a wide selection of all-day breakfast items with both American and Filipino flavors. Among the new items being offered is the Potato Wedge Salad (P160) which has romaine lettuce and potato wedges in mayonnaise dressing topped with bacon bits. This is a good way to start breakfast, or lunch, or any other meal.

As a true breakfast restaurant, Slappy Cakes also gives a twist to the normal scrambled egg with their Cheezy Chorizo Scramble (P220). This dish has chorizo, onion, cheddar cheese, and eggs topped with cilantro pesto and served with toasted bread. This was my favorite dish that afternoon and I really liked the heavenly combination of the cheese and the scrambled eggs that just makes this a winner.

One new surefire favorite is The Elvis (P220) with its peanut butter, bacon, and banana with honey in sourdough bread. The King’s favorite is definitely a must try especially for peanut butter lovers. Elvis would be proud.

Slappy Cakes is also serving a line-up of all-American burgers which include the Cheeseburger (P170), a juicy beef burger with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and mustard served with potato wedges, and the Slappy Sliders (P150), a combination of three cute and tasty baby hamburgers. 

Those that prefer to have rice meals might prefer the simple Havana Rice (P220) which has ground beef, sunny side egg, and plantain on rice. On the other hand, you can also try the Maple Glazed Pork Chop (P220) which are breaded pork chops topped with a sweet maple glaze and served with red onion and rice. This is one item that the kids will like.

Slappy Cakes is also introducing the evil Devil’s Cookies and Cream (P200) for dessert which has red velvet coated, deep fried cookies and cream sandwich a la mode. Whatever your preference, Slappy Cakes has just the dish for you whether you are a kid, a teenager, or an adult. So drop by their branches and try out these new exciting dishes.
