Godflesh opened with this song when I saw Godflesh/ Nirvana/ L7 at the Astoria in 1991. I had never seen or heard anything like this before. Apart from a relentless volley of stage diving...No drummer, just two men lurching over crushingly heavy drum machines and thunder big riffs. The vocals were soaring. I became obsessed with this 12″ which I bought at Croydon’s old H&R Cloakes record shop. The music seemed to surpass every box it formed from drifting to mantric to super super heavy and dangerous. I never looked back and even tried to emulate it in some of my old experiments at school yet failed miserably!
