Stop the Slaughter of Dolphins in Taiji, Japan
Japanese Dolphin season starts today. It spans from the 1st of September, possibly through until March next year. It is absolutely disgusting. Thousands of Dolphins will be slaughtered under the watch of the Japanese Government, some will be captured and sent to theme parks, zoos and aquariums, some will end up on the shelves of Japanese shops in for people to eat. While some people have made films to make this issue known globally, some people have gone over to Taiji to take direct action, we were left wondering what we, as British citizens can do. We took the time to write a letter to the Japanese Embassy, please copy and paste this into an email, print it and post it, turn it into a petition and send it with multiple signatures, or write your own. We urge you to take action in which ever form you feel able to do so. Re-post this on facebook, twitter, instagram, tell your friends...apathy is not going to change anything. Addresses can be found below the two photos we've attached, which I don't think would go amiss on the odd email.
I am writing as a citizen of the Unkited Kingdom to express my concern of the institutionalised killing of thousands of cetations in the commencing season in Taiji, Japan. This issue is of extreme concern to the citizens of the entire world for a range of reasons. The vital and fragile ecosystem of the worlds oceans is continuously under threat from the destructive actions of humans. There are many global organisations working to regulate our impact on the oceans and this needs to be a joint effort from all nations.
The underhand actions and obvious exploitation by the Japanese Government regarding conservation loopholes are well known globally and severely damage the reputation of your beautiful country. Your continued campaigns in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and in Taiji are viewed upon by the rest of the world as disgraceful, barbaric and outdated.
As a citizen of the United Kingdom I urge you, our local representative of Japan, to please take a stand on this issue, listen to the people not only of the United Kingdom but the rest of the world who are looking on the actions of your country in absolute disgust.
Thomas Bing and Sally McGee.
