Slave Posers Party With Politicians in SC
Um … we did simulations in my high school history class at King/Drew, because our teacher, Ms. Washington was trying to bring past events to life for us. I won't deny that there was some dressing up as enslaved Africans involved. With that said, has the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) lost its mind? This photo was taken at the NFRW's annual fall board meeting in Charleston, South Carolina LAST WEEKEND, where partygoers were entertained by people dressed as Confederates AND slaves -- including South Carolina Senate President, Glenn McConnell (featured in the pic above). I'm certain that not only does the organization have its qualms about these polemical pics popping up on the net, but these brothas who sold their souls to dress up like this are probably hurling over the commode right now. This is not an attempt at satire or sarcastic humor. The invitations for this event, called "The Southern Experience," requested that guests dress in "antebellum" attire. While I wouldn't have participated in this for any amount of money in the world (Hey, that was for school, man!), I certainly hope they at least earned a pretty penny. Shaking my damn head.
