In some Y-centric countries, it’s very much possible for a darling to divorce their yandere, but it’s purposely made difficult thanks to the practice of Divorce Debt.

It goes like this: Divorce is very expensive, and the yandere, as master of the house, must foot the bill. Once it is finalized, the darling is escorted by police to a place called a Debtor’s Tenement, a cramped building that other divorcees live in. There, they will labor in rough and dangerous jobs to pay back their yandere ex. It can be years before this is complete, but afterwards, the darling is free... Unless they meet another yandere who wants them.

The king and queen of the dandere kingdom, a year before their home was destroyed. Both were very benevolent rulers, reportedly treating their subjects like family. Both had a fondness for plants, which is how they met. The king, who had struggled with chronic pain all his life, was given a herb to rub on his knees by a gardener who would later become the queen.

Their whereabouts today are currently unknown; the last known footage of them is them being forcibly separated by invading troops and hauled away in chains. It is believed that they were sold as darlings to unknown yanderes. Their daughter, who miraculously escaped, has dedicated her entire life to finding her parents and getting justice for her people.
