Moving the car over on the hill
First Time: *bumps the van*
Second Time: *bumpe the van*
Third Time: *doesn't bump the van*
Me: I didn't bump the van!
Sis: Yay! *holds out fist for fistbump*
Me: Really? I'm celebrating because I didn't bump the van and you want me to bump something. This is why I sacrificed you to Hell Master Phibrizzo.
I just wanted to get this done,it won’t truly be let out and parts of it did not come out as expected but it still works
The Sorcerer's Guild (Japanese: 魔道士まどうし協会きょうかい Kanji translation: Sorcerer Association, Romaji: madōshi kyōkai)is a guild of magic users that exists within the mazoku barrier. (The part of the world Lina lives in.) It's headquarters once existed in the city of Sairaag. Zanaffer destroyed the city in the first season. Now with no centralized government, it exists as independent associations within cities
The guild is responsible for educating would be magic users. Students learn spell casting and magical theories, however, when it comes to actually using spells only simplistic and non-destructive spells are taught to them because they're not easily abused. These spells are usually in the shamanistic and white magic category. Sleeping spells are an example of such spells that are not taught because it could be used against someone. If the magic practitioner wants to learn more powerful spells they are forced with the option of learning it by making spells up themselves or using the guild library. The libraries of the guild has much of the available magical lore, though lacking in rare texts such as the Claire Bible.
In order to be given the title of sorcerer by the guild, a special test must be taken. The casting of the spell fireball seems to be a requirement, however, the details of the test is not known. Once passed, beside being given the title of sorcerer, a color is assigned and matching robes are given to identify one as a member of the spell casting community. Sorcerers are not allowed to pass on their arcane arts to others. (This is hard to enforce, however.) Lina Inverse was given the title "Lina the Pink" after she passed, though she seems embarrassed by this.
Lina usually uses the guild when researching magical texts. Financial compensation is given and she even fills in as a instructor from time to time. In Slayers Special (Known in English as Slayers Book of Spells.) a former vice president of the guild, Lagan, stole documents pertaining to a mirror that is able to copy someone, endowing the copy with an opposite personality. Hoping to capitalize on this to create his personal magic using army to take over the world, he sought the mirror. The guild offered a price on his head causing Lina and Naga the pursue him.
Continuing the Slayers rare facts this week, we'll be focusing on those dang Mazoku. (The first part being an entry from yesterday.) I'll be including some information on the astral plane again in case this was missed in the Ra Tilt entry. Parts will be taken from "What is a Mazoku in Slayers?" The information provided in that link and these two entries will change the way you watch or re-watch the series from now on. :)
Since Mazoku see humans as the source of their food, they're naturally going to have to in close proximity to them. Many Mazoku have taken it upon themselves to assume a mental projection in the physical world that looks like a human being. High ranking Mazoku such as Hellmaster and Xelloss can pull of human forms that are very convincing. Lower ranking Mazoku have trouble maintaining their forms without something being "off" about them. Seigram is a good example of this. He is only vaguely human. They're real forms reside in the invisible astral plane. The lowliest of Mazoku are so underpowered they cannot even keep their human like forms; "Kanzeru [a middle class Mazoku] said, 'Those were the lowest class Mazoku. They can't keep existing in the material world with their own power, so they unite with the living things in this world. That means they must change their forms, but they'll become to be able to exist on their own. I hear that humans call them 'lesser demons'. I don't know how they seemed to you [Lina]. Those were their real forms in the astral side.'"
The fact they are spiritual beings means they are closely related to the astral side or spirit realm. The realm which everything is connected at, is different for a Mazoku than a person. If the Mazoku is attacked there it is detrimental for them. For human being the worst they may encounter is craziness if their astral form is destroyed. For a Mazoku, however, this can cause non-existence if their astral form is destroyed.
The spiritual beings status makes them inherently different compared to humans because Mazoku's power is tied to the concept "I think, therefore I am." For example, if a Mazoku believes he is not as strong as a human he can be damaged severely. They tend to avoid anything that leads them to deny their own existence for this reason. That is way they do not cast magic, specifically magic drawn from other Mazoku.
But because they are spiritual beings normal elemental shamanistic magic doesn't work on them. Black magic, magical items, and spirit shamanistic magic does work effectively on them, however. They can also be damaged by sheer willpower: "Lina said, 'Mazoku belong to the spiritual world. So, they can't be damaged by swords or flame. It is like how we, humans, can't be harmed by abusive language. If you hit one Mazoku with a sword, you should think 'Go to hell!' strongly in your mind. Your will goes into the Mazoku through the sword, and if your will is stronger than the Mazoku's emotional strength, you can at least damage it. They say silver weapons are effective at getting rid of ghosts. It is because silver can channel more power from a human's will than other materials. To tell the truth, Gourry's sword of light gathers the power of the will of the one who has it in his hands, and makes the blade with that.'"
