Where: Summer Fest!
When: Evening!
“Does it really count as Summer Fest if I have to wear a sweatshirt when it starts to get dark?” As if on cue, Ollie shivered slightly. He shoved his hands into his pockets, flexing his fingers to keep warm. “I swear, summer just decided to disappear overnight. Have you seen a coffee cart anywhere? I need to warm up if I’m going to enjoy the rides.”
Where: Summer Fest
When: After Sunset
The sun had just barely set, and it felt odd to be out and about, trying to have fun, when there was so much work to do back at the office. Tearing off a ribbon length of cotton candy from her stick, Viv glanced toward the games. “All those things are rigged. I wonder if I could bribe one of the attendants to let me buy that big stuffed bear...”
Where: Summer Fest
When: Any time!
“I hit the target on that hammer game so hard last year that it nearly broke.” A half cringe, half proud smirk graced Nox’s face as he walked through all the games at the Summer Fest. “I betcha I could win the top prize again. They practically threw it at me to make sure I didn’t play again.”
VIGILANTE has gone dark.
After months of relentless threats and unsolicited “evidence” of supernaturals breaking the long-standing treaty, three weeks have passed without contact from the mysterious organization. The small break from the threat gave the slayers time to assemble a council of higher-up elders from across the globe. They met to discuss what could be done to foster good will between the supernaturals and the slayers after months of tension. A long term plan was devised, starting with one simple step: hold out an offer of friendship.
In that spirit, the council announced all major slayer hubs will play host to a gala that all local supernaturals and slayers are invited, and encouraged, to attend. For those who simply want to party and dance the night away, music, entertainment, and food and beverages will be supplied. Supernaturals less inclined to party until dawn are invited to attend roundtables that will include representatives from different divisions of slayers. These discussions will focus on local issues, what can be done to mend broken relations, improve communication, and any ideas to help root out VIGILANTE.
While the goal of the evening is to demonstrate that supernaturals can still trust slayers, the council is well aware that trust is already broken for some. To encourage all supernaturals to attend, the council declared that any spoken confessions during the gala of treaty-breaking activity will be disregarded, and no one in attendance will be taken into custody during the gala (even if they are currently wanted by the slayers). Weapons are strictly prohibited. As always, the Slayer Hub is meant to be neutral ground for all supernaturals. While everyone is allowed to be their supernatural selves in the hub, the council requests that no one use their abilities to intimidate or threaten the other guests.
Hopefully, the gala will be an opportunity to move forward and reconnect as a supernatural community. Of course, there’s always a chance things could go wrong...
This event will take place on discord on 7/31/21 at 7:30 p.m. EST. Discord events are rapid-fire interactions that the entire group can participate in. There will be two discord channels (one for the “roundtables” and one for the main party) and characters can participate in one or both throughout the event. If you need help coming up with a reason your character would attend the gala, please let me know! **As of right now, there are no human characters in the group, but if someone applies with a human role that does not know about the supernatural world, I will absolutely help come up with a way for them to participate.
After the gala, the slayers made an effort to hunt down the people behind VIGILANTE. Through a painstaking amount of work and long hours, the slayers managed to find evidence that some gala attendees might have ties to VIGILANTE.
Unfortunately, as the final fireworks of Summer Fest lit Roseport’s sky, the slayer hub suffered a break in and a data breach. All the evidence related to the suspect gala attendees was wiped from the system and stolen from the hub. While the slayers still have the list of those they planned to question, they now have no hard evidence tying any of the suspects to VIGILANTE.
Only a slayer would have known how to access not only the databases, but the physical slayer hub, without immediate detection. A slayer must be working with VIGILANTE. No one knows who it is, but fingers are being pointed, and the slayers and supernaturals don’t know who to trust.
OOC: The event is now over! You’re free to continue and finish your event threads, but please do not post any new event starters. As of right now, only the slayers know what VIGILANTE deleted/stole, but everyone knows that VIGILANTE breached the slayer hub.
In order to let everyone establish their threads a little more and post last minute Summer Fest starters, I’m going to extend the event until tomorrow evening. (September 12th). The event will wrap up with a post about the mysterious organization VIGILANTE, so be sure to look out for that!
Where: Summer Fest
When: Nighttime
“Do you have any idea what time the fireworks are supposed to start?” Julian frowned up at the sky, still black aside from the glimmering city lights and stars beyond. “I suppose I could’ve stayed home and watched them from there, but I do love a good close up viewing.”
