White Tyger Interview with Nip Turner, Chris Hingley and Stephen Timmins
1) Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your style?
The band draws inspiration from a wide range of influences and genres, each leaving a unique mark on our sound and stage presence. Legendary acts such as Guns N’ Roses and Skid Row inspire our raw energy, attitude, and the sleaze-rock swagger that fuels our live performances. From Metallica, we take the power of heavy riffs and the intensity of their relentless drive, blending it into our own brand of hard rock.Steel Panther adds a touch of tongue-in-cheek fun and theatricality, reminding us that rock should be as entertaining as it is powerful. Meanwhile, Mötley Crüe has shaped our sense of showmanship and larger-than-life persona, pushing us to deliver performances that are not just concerts, but full-on experiences.Together, these influences have helped us craft a style that balances melody and grit, power and playfulness. We aim to channel the spirit of classic rock and metal while bringing our own modern edge, ensuring that every track and every show feels both nostalgic and fresh.
2) What’s something you listen to that might surprise people, given the music you make?
Even though we’re known for our hard rock sound, our playlists might surprise you. We’ve got a real love for old school blues artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and B.B. King. That raw emotion and storytelling is a huge influence on how we approach songwriting, even if it comes out louder and heavier in our own music. On the flip side, we also dive into thrash metal bands like Slayer, Anthrax, and early Metallica. The speed, aggression, and sheer intensity of thrash pushes us to keep our energy high and our riffs sharp. It’s that mix the soul of the blues and the fire of thrash that helps shape our sound. Fans might not expect it, but those contrasts keep us inspired and make our music more dynamic.
3) What’s a non-musical skill, hobby, or obsession in the band that has secretly shaped your music?
Christopher (Lead Guitar) - My personal interests are deeply rooted in music. When we're not performing gigs ourselves, you'll often find me at other bands' shows, soaking in the live music scene. I love the energy of concerts, and it's a great way to discover new sounds and connect with fellow music enthusiasts. Alongside that, I enjoy the social aspect of it all drinking, partying, and just having a good time with friends.Beyond music, I have a few other hobbies that keep me busy. I'm really into weight training at the gym, it's a great way to stay fit and clear my mind. When I want to relax I enjoy watching movies or playing video games. It's a nice escape and a way to unwind after a busy day. Another passion of mine is visiting theme parks. I love the thrill of the rides and the fun atmosphere they're a perfect way to let loose and have some adventure.
Nip (Vocals / Guitar) - I have a variety of interests that keep me entertained and active. One of my favourite pastimes is playing darts. It's a fun and competitive way to unwind, and I enjoy the challenge of trying to hit that perfect bullseye. Alongside that, I make it a point to go to the gym regularly. Weight-training is a big part of my routine, it helps me stay fit and focused, and I love the sense of accomplishment after a good workout. When it comes to entertainment, I'm a huge fan of horror films. There's something thrilling about the suspense and adrenaline rush that comes with a good scare.Of course, having a good time with my bandmates in White Tygër is always a highlight. Whether we're performing on stage, hanging out backstage, or just enjoying each other's company, it's always a great time. The camaraderie and shared passion for music make every moment with the band special.
Stephen (Bass)- Outside of music, I have a variety of interests that keep me active and engaged. One of my favourite activities is rock and sport climbing with my family. It's a fantastic way to bond while challenging ourselves physically and mentally. The thrill of reaching the top of a climb is incredibly rewarding and it's something we all enjoy doing together. I'm also really into weight lifting and most sporting activities. Staying fit and active is important to me and I love the sense of accomplishment that comes with pushing my limits and achieving new goals When it comes to entertainment, I'm a big fan of horror films. I enjoy the suspense and excitement they bring. Attending festivals is another favourite pastime. The vibrant atmosphere, live music, and the chance to meet new people make festivals an absolute pleasure.Another passion of mine is customizing my Harley and taking it out for rides in the sun. There's nothing quite like the freedom of the open road and exploring new places on a beautifully customized bike. It's a great way to clear my mind and enjoy some quality time outdoors.Of course, spending time with family and friends is always a priority. Whether we're having a good time at a festival, enjoying a movie night, or just hanging out, these moments are precious to me. They provide a perfect balance to the busy life and touring with the band.
4) Who in the band would survive a zombie apocalypse the longest—and why?
Definitely Stephen. First off, he’s got climbing skills that would make Spider-Man jealous while the rest of us are panicking on the ground, he’d already be halfway up a building, waving down at us like, “See you later!”And then there’s the bass. Stephen slings it so low it’s practically dragging on the floor, which means in a zombie apocalypse it doubles as a weapon. Forget baseball bats or chainsaws we’re talking about a low-slung, zombie-smashing bass guitar of doom. One swing and those undead don’t stand a chance. So yeah, Stephen’s survival plan is basically: climb high, swing low, and rock harder than the apocalypse itself.
5) Where can people catch White Tyger live the last few weeks of 2025 and beginning of 2026?
19th Dec 2025 ROXOFF Festival at the Brickmakers in Norwich
7th March 2026 Yarmageddon- Great Yarmouth
1st - 2nd May Whitby Goth festival
5th June - River rooms headline show
6th September HRH Sleaze
Also some exciting possibilities of additional festivals yet to be announced
6) What are your favorite venue(s) to play shows at?
From the early days of playing tiny, questionable bars to now rocking packed venues, every stage has been invaluable in shaping who we are. Those first gigs taught us confidence and grit, while today’s larger stages let us unleash the full power of our performance, that’s where White Tyger truly thrives. The energy from the crowd is phenomenal, and the feedback we get highlights the passion and fire we bring to every show. Playing live is what fuels us: each gig is a chance to connect with fans, refine our craft, and push our boundaries.Ultimately, it’s not just about the venue size, it’s about the journey. Every opportunity has helped us grow, and we love creating unforgettable experiences that build a loyal community around our music.
7) What platforms can fans follow you on?
We love connecting with fans across different platforms, each with its own vibe:
TikTok – For hilarious shorts, behind-the-scenes chaos, and those moments that prove rock ’n’ roll is never boring.
YouTube – Our home for official music videos and live footage. This is a more recent development after our previous channel was taken down.
Instagram - Day-to-day band updates, gig announcements, and snapshots from life on the road.
Facebook - The big picture overview: tour schedules, event pages, and everything you need to keep track of White Tyger in one place.
8) How would you describe White Tyger as coffee?
Absolutely love this question!!!
"White Tyger: the double espresso of rock — bold, loud, and impossible to ignore."Roast: Bold dark roast — powerful, intense, and full-bodied, just like our hard rock sound.
Flavor Notes:
Smoky riffs = rich, earthy undertones.
Sweet melodic hooks = hints of caramel and chocolate.
Punchy drums = a sharp espresso bite that wakes you up instantly.
Aroma: Strong and unforgettable — the kind of scent that fills the room and makes you turn your head.
Serving Style: Best enjoyed loud and hot, maybe even as a double shot, because one sip (or one song) is never enough.
Aftertaste : Leaves a lingering buzz — energetic, rebellious, and addictive.
