Sleep is Death Cont.
Because I love lunar sways so much, I think there’s a point I’d like to make in regards to the whole sleeping and dying thing. Which is that, prospit dreamers are implied to carry over less of their memories. Atleast as far as the extended zodiac’s description of them reads. The Extended Zodiac States: “They have trouble thinking things through, and their feelings toward specific situations and decisions can change from day to day.” Prospit dreamers are less cerebrally/memory oriented people and more feelings oriented. Vriska forgets she killed Aradia even though Aradia kills her in retaliation, allowing her to Godtier. Jade is noted to need to a reminder system to do things frequently, and John does a lot of jumping back and fourth between objectives in his introductions as though he is incredibly scatterbrained. All of this makes me inclined to think that Derse dreamers, the cerebrally oriented individuals, maintain more of “themselves” than their Prospit counterparts when they Godtier if not having better access to their memories.
Homestuck: Sleep is Death.
One interesting thing that isn’t talked about often is how doomed Rose literally causes a universe to disappearify out of existence by going to sleep. I think there’s some serious implications behind that. That she is the last person to perceive reality, and that the act of sleeping undoes that reality. In Homestuck sleep and death are often equated with one another. For example, god tiering is presented as taking a “legendary nap”.
The extreme but interesting conclusion we can take from this equivocation between sleep and death is that every time a character falls asleep in Homestuck, they are effectively dying and resurrecting in a new plane of reality It’s later revealed that godtiering does not result in the dead person being resurrected. Rather, it results in them being copy & pasted onto the battlefield as a god tier, while their ghost goes out into the furthest ring. So not only are characters symbolically dying and resurrecting when they go to sleep, but they are dying and resurrecting as completely new people. And in hindsight isn’t this exactly what happens to doomed!rose? She falls asleep, and her memories are transplanted into an empty sleeping vessel, leaving her body in the previous reality but sending her mind into another. The act of this death as shown by Rose, has the potential to completely erase a timeline from reality or perception. If there is no one left to perceive reality, then reality simply ceases being. I’m reminded of what Aranea says about how reality is propagated through individuals.
I’m inclined to take this both from the angle of the alpha timeline and also how paradox space works in general?

What if sleeping is just a preview of death?
Sleep is the enemy.
Unconscious
Heart tied to the mattress unable to rise to pull at the chains at the cord the plug stopping gravity from tearing my ribs from my chest and out of this fit of sleep
mind wrapped in duvet to survive with a hollowed-out soul hole cauterised by conversation and the miasma of pheromones
lurching steps of youth living through death on dregs of coffee.
