Silence
Sleeptober 2025
Day 4
the contrast of Vessel saying "it's like you're dangerous to me" compared to in the sundowning when he was saying that Sleep found him dangerous
"You still refuse to shelter me, 'Cause I am a danger" -Higher
"Most days you reach for safety, Remain calm, forget that you know me" -Dark signs
the blood and the fury takes us a little higher
'cause i am a fire,
and you are
The guitar or bass in the beginning of Higher sounds like a jaw harp to me and it will never not be funny
.
'cause i look for scarlet and you look for ultraviolet
“And I hate the way you look at Me when I am not understood”
Higher has a strange feel to it. I think it comes from the “war language” used in it? “capitulate” “lacerate” “battle”. The word capitulate makes me think of the Roman empire for some reason. The battle ground that he refers to could be his own family? Maybe growing up there was a lot of “disharmony” or you get what I mean 😅 I always feel like this song is directed towards a family member. But it's just me making assumptions.
The line “and I hate the way you look at me when I am not understood” feels just familiar in a way. We all seek validation and we all hate it when no one gives it to us. Especially when it comes to humans like our parents.
“Cause you can remember only when you're alone”
So maybe someone was divorced? Idk. Maybe he felt not wanted and someone used to kind of forget that he existed? When you're alone….well..Maybe he argued with a step parent a lot and his other parent only gave him some attention when his girlfriend or whoever was not around. I feel horrible for making these assumptions.
