13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
Haha. Sort of spoilers MAYBE?
Myst is an elf, and as it turns out, elves don't tend to sleep. Instead they just meditate for a few hours. But Myst has sort of.. taken to meditating in a bed laying down to emulate sleep. I don't really know if this was a habit he picked up a while back, or if it's one he's gotten more attached to since sharing a bed with Lafi, but that's what he does when he has the chance. Of course, he can also meditate sitting up, or even standing, though he would rather not.
When he meditates he is completely still. And those off times he does fall asleep from physical exhaustion, he is too. So his covers end up close to how they started.
Myst was really comfortable when he used to sleep / meditate in a bed with Lafi. She was apparently pretty clingy and cuddly, and he would appreciate her latching onto him, or burying her head into his chest, or just pretty much laying on top of him with him holding onto her if he was allowed. He didn't typically move once he settled, but Lafi could probably move him around easily if she wanted to without bothering him. When he meditates, he's pretty aware of his surroundings so it wouldn't surprise him if she moved. But when he falls asleep, (it's usually by accident,) he is a VERY heavy sleeper and is basically dead to the world. Lafi could've kicked him out of the bed entirely and he likely wouldn't have woken.
Now that she's not around, Myst doesn't really have a way that he rests consistently. Laying as he might've used to (probably typically on his side, but he wouldn't really have much preference) feels... empty now to him, so a lot of times, when he does meditate on a bed, he usually seems to sprawl out on his back, or face down after flopping over and just... stays there for a few hours. Sometimes he sits, sometimes he leans against something, and so forth. But he doesn't go through the 'resting' rituals more common to humans that he used to; they feel 'wrong' to him without Lafiat to share them with.
He hasn't slept for a while either, but when he does, he does so for a LONG time. It is really difficult to wake him by intervention, and for him to wake up by himself. I like to imagine that because elves have 'slowed down' so much, that for them sleeping is almost like a sort of comatose state. When they fall into it, they slow even further to the point of diffusing a lot of outside stimuli. And because Myst had some things happen to him that depleted his life-force that stuck, I feel like when Myst falls asleep his body just wants to shut down and stay shut down. When he does eventually awake, he is always extremely groggy and somewhat disoriented for a while. Myst prefers not to sleep if he can help it for all of these reasons, but sometimes I think his body just needs a rest, and he falls to it unwillingly.
In terms of his bed, though he sprawls all over things, I am fairly certain after meditating, he will make it neatly again. If he has fallen asleep, after waking he is often too groggy to care, and will leave it as it is until the next time he sees it.
