I've had this image in my head for a while now. Besides Mew, Randy's favorite Pokemon is Altaria. So if he's having a particularly hard time sleeping, Akoya likes to turn into one to help him out.

When Akoya transforms, she defaults to their shiny colors. She can do non-shiny, but it takes more concentration.
This is the first time we've seen Randy purr, as he rarely does so. He spends most of his time as a human, and when he's a Mew, he doesn't have the same instinct that other Mews (and 'twos) have. He has to be in a state where he's really not thinking about it. (Which makes his purr all the more special to Akoya!)
