I have had a lot of trouble falling asleep for a long time. Throughout the years, I have found some tips on how to fall asleep and have decided to share them with you. Some of them are odd but they work for me. Here we go.
I specifically listen to “Sleep With Me” by Dearest Scooter and Drew Ackerman on Spotify. Just press play on your charging phone and leave it on your nightstand or dresser. Listen. Fall asleep.
2. Audiobooks, Movies, or Spoken Word
With audiobooks and movies, I recommend something slightly funny. Something lighthearted and quiet and gentle. I use “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. It reminds me of childhood what can I say.
There are poetry playlists on Spotify so if spoken word is your style you can find it there.
3. Breathing Techniques or any other calming techniques
Breathe in for 8 counts. Hold for 10. Exhale until lungs are empty.
Change this technique to how it works for you but this is what I use.
4. Spelling Choose a song you know by heart and instead of singing it in your head, spell the letters out one at a time.
….and this last one is my particularly weird tactic
5. Go to WikiHow and click random.
Read the article completely through and you will be distracted, more knowledgeable, and possibly asleep.
