this is an episode to rewatch because yeah i expected virtual reality, and then there was a verbal hint and visual hints and a MORE blatant visual hint and then an absolutely blatant hint with the pain slider.

but the whole engagement thing??? all the dialogue did such a good job of keeping you guessing what was really going on, whether to take the world at face value or not even as i was almost sure it was virtual and even then i just couldn’t figure out what the things they said about themselves MEANT in the real world

also but holy schmoly tho those lil white head thingies, the episode i saw before this one made AWFUL use of them oh my god gods it was terrible. Black Mirror is just. a show that absolutely guts me and now???

Honestly things WOULD have been better if they told the Arc population that something is wrong. But in a controlled manner. Say, make people volunteer to go down to Earth. I am SURE. that there would be 320 willing to do just that to save the ARc and try and make a new life.

Clarke seemed pretty reserved and her only friend seemed to be Wells? like. she’s....17? WOW. 17. like. wow. she spent months in isolation? she seems a weirdly experienced kisser/sexer for a first timer. But srsly when the hell did she have sex before? They probably have implanted birth control though, so that’s nice.

also, so Clarke was like. Sometimes you shouldn’t tell people, you shouldn’t just let the people have what they want. THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. The second part is BELLAMY’s ideology that he’s been selling all over. The first is about the right to KNOW. of course the point is that you should consider what the people will do with the knowledge, that you MUST direct the response. Which Clarke did not consider. But she has a POINT. People do have a right to know. They should not be able to what they want THOUGH! BELLAMY!!!

rules exist for a reason. I wish that the crowd was less of a faceless mob and more of a group of people. not necessarily special, but PEOPLE. I wish there was a people-person amongst our leaders. where’s the hierarchy that existed IN prison? Multiple groupings would have been an interesting variation.

srsly somebody with people skills come to us. Is it Raven? Will she have the charisma of somebody who treats people like people and make them visible to the audience? right now the 90 seem a lot more moved by plot than motivations. give me some faces, ties between faces. a creeping sense of solidarity?
