Today, after a 4 week long process with health services, I finally had my property orientation at Typhoon Lagoon! Overall it was a very relaxed laid back day. I had my orientation with two other girls, a fellow slide op and a QSFB CM. We talked about the story of Typhoon, our role in the story and had a property tour.
For my entire life, I have loved water parks, and today was like a dream come true because I realized I'm actually going to be working at a water park, which also means perks like free entry into the water park year round. I remember going to Typhoon two years ago and seeing the slide ops and wanting their jobs, and look at me now! We got to walk all around the park and learn about the different food and attraction offerings and we got to see the themeing and story in action. My favorite part of the day was the shark reef, we got to see the 10 foot deep reef where guests can actually swim with sharks and other sea life. It's taken care of by the aquariusts from The Seas, and we actually got to talk to one of the care takers. They currently have a tiny baby bonnett head shark there named Bruce who's about a foot long and just about the cutest little thing I ever did see.
Tomorrow I have the standard welcome to Recreation class, and on Thursday I get to finally begin my training as a slide op at Typhoon, and if all goes well I'll be done training by the end of the week! I'm so thankful for the scheduling cast member that made this possible for me after hearing all I'd been through in the past couple of weeks, I really never could have hoped to get on a schedule and working this quickly.
