Writing about homely things, Influenster, and the Colgate Slimsoft
While my other blogs are more focused on poetry and prose, I felt the need to add yet another blog. One about the everyday things--where my professional writing is not so important as the practical discussion regarding how one can live well.
For instance, my sister and I started a program this spring called Influenster. It's this wonderful place where you can hear what other people think of products you use--that occasionally asks us to try out products and give reviews. Everything from makeup to foods to body care products to anything you can imagine has a review--or could have a review--and they need lots of reviews in order to see what people wants out of the products they buy.
Anyhoo. I recently received a Slimsoft toothbrush--Colgate's newest product--from Influenster. It's a very light, slim toothbrush with tapered bristles--and OH MY GOSH IS IT SOFT. ... I may or may not have sat brushing my face with it when I opened it. It felt softer than my makeup brushes. And, best part of all, it works so much more efficiently than my old toothbrush.
I am a lazy teeth cleaner. I forget about cleaning my teeth until they look weird, and then I spend 10-15 minutes brushing to get them feeling clean again. My dad tells me I'd be much better off brushing for short amounts each day... but goodness knows I don't do consistency.
So this brush is really appealing to me. It feels good in my mouth--it's not abrasive like most brushes (and I didn't realize how rough my brush was until I tried this... it's like the difference between terrycloth and chenille). But it works! I flossed afterwards (TMI, I know...) and there was very little for the floss to catch.
The verdict? Time-saving, thorough, gentle tool for the job. I thoroughly approve. And I think I'm much more likely to remember things like brushing teeth when they don't require quite so much work... or pain... like my normal process of tooth scrubbing.
