Quick Review: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Hey all :)
If thereās one thing I havenāt got a handle on... itās hydration. Moisturizing. Both in the sense of drinking enough water (my wonderful glass water bottle is glaring at me from across the table) or applying lotion to my rather parched skin.Ā
Iāve gotten better at it on my face, but not so much for my body... and I knew itād gotten bad when MY LEGS were drier than my DADās legs.Ā Legs should not have scales, FYI.Ā Then comes a new Voxbox. The Jingle Voxbox. And a happy little clinically-packaged jar of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.Ā Quick Ingredients check: This isnāt something Iād put on my face--my skin doesnāt do too well with petrolatum and most oils, so those are a no. Other than that, itās a pretty basic water-and-oil cream. (As always if you have an ingredient allergy check the ingredients list on CosDNA first. I donāt, so I didnāt.)Ā
The bottle says dermatologist recommended--which makes me ask, FOR WHAT? They never say what dermatologists recommended it FOR. Who are these dermatologists? Where did they come from? Is there a dermatologist testing committee that just routinely tests all the products to see if they work?Ā
Weāll never know.Ā
But back to Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream:
How it feels: I scooped out a fingertip-full per leg, which is enough to thinly cover from ankles to knees--where my skin is driest. The Moisturizing Cream is more of a balm than a lotion--itās fairly thick, but melts a bit when applying. Itās not as immovable as Nivea cream--which I really wanted to love but didnāt because I couldnāt spread the darn stuff onto my skin. Cetaphilās cream is much easier to apply and spreads soothly and evenly across the skin. And unlike Nivea, thereās no fragrance, which I like.Ā
The results: I can feel it on the surface of my skin (which should be expected because of the occlusive ingredients) for a while after application. About an hour later, I donāt feel it on the surface, but I can see my skin is looking happier--a little shinier, a little less scaly, and a lot more supple. There is no irritation on application. Several hours later, my skin still feels smooth and supple to the touch. And after a few days of applying once daily, my legs are consistently better-looking than before. Iām not going to post gross scaly leg pictures to compare--at least not today. But my legs are no longer scaly, and I donāt have to apply very often to keep them that way, and I donāt have to apply very much to keep them that way, so Iām satisfied.Ā
Iād definitely purchase this once the jar runs out. Itās not the only cream Iād ever purchase, but itās better than I thought itād be--I havenāt found anything I donāt like about it. Itās not elegant, but it works--and right now thatās enough.Ā
