Mod Paup Peas Stride
So, for the first of hopefully many posts (I have a lot of EDH decks), I'm gonna talk about one of my EDH decks.... yeah.
Sludge Strider!
This is one I just built, and its my first Pauper Commander deck. So, its untested at the moment, but I really like the look of it. I built it as a modular Pauper/Peasant deck, with an 8-card Uncommon Board to switch between the two formats.
Here's the deck!
Since its a Modular Pauper Peasant Sludge Strider Deck, I call it Mod Pop Peas Stride. Because the point of communication is the clear transmission of ideas, and this really helps with it.
So, some cards.
First, what's missing: Peace Strider and Parasitic Strix, because I apparently don't have any of those cards. And the best part, I think, of making any Commander deck, but Pauper in particular, is just going through the collection and making something work. Later you go to gatherer, and then the stores, and you get all the perfect little things that fit, and spend all your money, and blah, blah, blah. Anyway, making decks out of what you have is fun.
Also, there should totally be some Extort in here, if only there were artifacts with extort. Maybe after a bit of testing I'll see.
So, the cards that are actually in it.
Soooo many mana rocks, because it combines what this deck wants as much of as it can get; artifacts and mana.
The last sets of 8 are the UncommonBoard and the Commons that get pulled out for them, and this is how the deck morphs between Aggro/Control and Combo/Control.
What I see as the real greats are the Spellbombs, Capsules and Replicas, because they're cheap enough, and there are good enough effects that with the drain from Strider I hope I can just cycle through everything and suck everyone's life away.
And backed up with cheap efficient flyers ( or value engines in the UnBoard) Should be enough to take down other PDHers. Not that I've met any.
Chrome Steed and Frogmite are cute as "4 mana 2/2s" that are anything but. And the biggest threat being Razorfield Thresher is pretty perfect.
Other cards... Well, I remember losing to Glaze Fiends a lot back in the day, so maybe its time for some belated revenge.
Goal number next: Find people with PDH decks.
