MERRY CREESMES
Listen/purchase: Sluggart - Nanocreek by Caoutchou Records
Sublime instrumental beats. Eyesdown music.
Sluggart - Tame Beast
Sluggart - Pavement
First time I heard Sluggart I was drifting in and out of sleep and was hearing it playing from crummy laptop speakers about arms reach away from me. I rolled over and typed something like "this is awesome" and stole it for my rotation. Later when I listened to it full awake I wasn't blown away by it, but I gave followed his soundcloud and gave a few of his tracks some plays.
This track here is a has a pretty straight forward 4 part progression, and the beat seems to click by at a snail pace. It feels pretty mournful like a dirge, and the ambience is almost a gothic drone. The rolling bass and the soulful singing that rolls in and out really sell the track in the end. I think it comes together pretty well. Sleepy and hypnotic.
I honestly can't remember how I discovered Xtraplex records and trough it Sluggart, but you know how they say God works in mysterious ways?
Well, so do I :D
Anyways, I liked his music so much I asked if he would be willing to do a mix for the radio, and he did. Using only his own material, which I appreciate even more, because a mix with somebody else's material, well.. I can do that myself :)
