Blue roses are often used to symbolise secret or unattainable love.

In Sly 2, after the tango dance, Sly gave a red rose to Carmelita. Red roses are the most common roses and symbolise romance and beauty, and sometimes also passion and love. 

But in the bonus video "Goodbye my Sweet" of Sly 3, Sly gives to Carmelita a blue rose, and those roses are the strangest and the most difficult to get. That symbolic gesture reflects in Sly 2 that Sly was only flirting with Carmelita, same as he did with Neyla at the beginning of the game. However in Sly 3, he's already completely in love with Carmelita, and since that moment she is the only woman in his heart, but he still doesn't know how he could stay with her so he still has to keep his feelings in secret.

Besides, in Sly 4, we can see in a photo Sly giving a red rose to Carmelita while he's kissing her, because both are finally together and they don't have to keep their love in secret anymore.

Thieves in Time did Sly and Carmelita’s relationship so dirty. Both of them knew they wanted to be together by the end of Sly 3, willing to start a relationship on a lie just to be together. Most importantly Sly leaving his past and everything he's worked for behind him.

He gave up his whole life for Carmelita after a near-death experience where all he could think about is his regret for not telling her how he felt. So Sanzaru is supposed to convince us that Sly all of a sudden just wanted to steal something because “he got hungry for another heist”. BITCH.

He got approached by Bentley because his ancestory, The Thevious Racconus, is being erased. And if he wants TO LIVE and not be ERASED from time he needs to be pulled from retirement. Sly isn’t ever saddened by the fact that he’s not only leaving Carmelita but leaving her to marinate alone in the fact that he lied and was happy to go and be a criminal again. He has to do this or else he won’t exist. Where’s the regret? Where’s the guilt? Nowhere.

When he’s confronted by Carmelita in the museum there’s no hurt or surprise it’s just like a tiny mistake in the plan. Not a stand still moment where Carmelita finally sees that Slys has gone back to his old ways and betrayed her trust. Nope it’s a Sly getting out of there quick with a “call me” and a classic “COOPER!”

For the rest of the game it’s just Carmelita bonding (kinda) with the rest of the gang and cucking Sly with HIS ANCESTORS, WHAT. Him being jealous about it, and being mad at Carmelita. Carmelita avoiding Sly and being furious at him. BRUH WERENT YOU TWO JUST PARTNERS AND IN A (not really) STABLE RELATIONSHIP. Why don’t they talk, once?

But they have had a relationship for years now, they aren’t just occasionally flirting, THEY HAVE BEEN A COUPLE. AND THIs is how the betrayal scene goes, WHAT. Then there’s ending where they kinda apologize to each other, then Sly fucking dies.

I don’t understand. I’m taking fictional furry couples relationship development way too seriously but it doesn’t make any sense so I’m still going to rant.
