divination has never been one of yeoreum’s most serious classes. her family (and therefore, yeoreum herself) clearly doesn’t believe in such superstitious and unsure things, no matter how conservative and traditional they might be, therefore for once, she’s not required to take just this one subject as seriously as if her life depended on it. which doesn’t mean that she doesn’t need to excel in it, of course.
whenever the class activity included doing any sort of divination on your own, such as reading tarot cards or tea leaves, yeoreum got into a bit of a pinch. her readings have always been rather... silly, and not accurate at all and while that thankfully didn’t account too much into her grade, it always shattered her motivation a little. sometimes, she would at least read funny things that could be entertaining, but most of the time...
this time, she’s required to read tea leaves again and she has the honor to go first. her partner for today happens to be lance, who has been kind of her safe haven in the past few weeks: his adventurous and rebellious nature is one completely void of the stereotypical slytherin traits which is why yeoreum feels so lucky to have befriended him. since he’s of the same house, no one, not her family, not the rat relatives would be able to judge her for interacting with such a student (whom her family would most probably deem ‘unworthy’ of the slytherin title, but alas, yeoreum isn’t like them).
“okay, so...” she reaches out for his cup, bracing herself for whatever may come. the first time she glances at the contents of the cup, she barely sees anything, which usually happens and lasts for a whole minute or even more before she can figure out any sort of relevant symbol. eyebrows furrowing, lips puckering up, the wheels of yeoreum’s brain tick furiously, eyes staring right into (and almost through) the bottom of the cup until she relaxes and lets out a deep sigh. “ughh, so.. i think i see the sun here...” she starts, sounding definitely more unsure than confident. “and... the venus? and maybe a heart right in-between? i think that means some sort of romance... though i’m not sure why it would show up now...” ( @slythlance )
