grypcy:Â
ââ
And just as he was trying to remember the name of the said  abandoned place, his eyes caught a flash of green and silver at the corner of his eyes and he turned his head to his left. He saw a Slytherin girl with a mixture of anger and anxiety on her face and that piqued his interest.
âExcuse me miss, are you waiting for someone?â
the sudden voice scares her so much that she jumps a few inches back, making a full twist to look for the source, only to find it in the form of a gryffindor male. great! someone has come, sheâs saved! if only he wasnât a gryffindor, it would be a lot more ideal, but...
yeoreum canât afford to complain in such a sticky situation. to his question, the girl ponders on the answer. should she lie, keeping her pride and just tell him that yes, sheâs indeed waiting? but that would most probably cause him to leave, thinking that he may be bothering. but if she admits that she had gotten lost... this piece of information might get out to other students and that would be just so, so, so goddamn embarrassing.
but, alas, yeoreumâs situation is one with limited options, so in the end, she decides to crush her pride and just shake her head. âugh, not exactly. i was checking something out and ended up completely getting lost. this isnât really characteristic of meâ itâs probably the bad weather and this fog that has caused it, i swear.â what bullshit. the fog honestly isnât even that bad.
àč dead hearts everywhere
divination has never been one of yeoreumâs most serious classes. her family (and therefore, yeoreum herself) clearly doesnât believe in such superstitious and unsure things, no matter how conservative and traditional they might be, therefore for once, sheâs not required to take just this one subject as seriously as if her life depended on it. which doesnât mean that she doesnât need to excel in it, of course.
whenever the class activity included doing any sort of divination on your own, such as reading tarot cards or tea leaves, yeoreum got into a bit of a pinch. her readings have always been rather... silly, and not accurate at all and while that thankfully didnât account too much into her grade, it always shattered her motivation a little. sometimes, she would at least read funny things that could be entertaining, but most of the time...
this time, sheâs required to read tea leaves again and she has the honor to go first. her partner for today happens to be lance, who has been kind of her safe haven in the past few weeks: his adventurous and rebellious nature is one completely void of the stereotypical slytherin traits which is why yeoreum feels so lucky to have befriended him. since heâs of the same house, no one, not her family, not the rat relatives would be able to judge her for interacting with such a student (whom her family would most probably deem âunworthyâ of the slytherin title, but alas, yeoreum isnât like them).Â
âokay, so...â she reaches out for his cup, bracing herself for whatever may come. the first time she glances at the contents of the cup, she barely sees anything, which usually happens and lasts for a whole minute or even more before she can figure out any sort of relevant symbol. eyebrows furrowing, lips puckering up, the wheels of yeoreumâs brain tick furiously, eyes staring right into (and almost through) the bottom of the cup until she relaxes and lets out a deep sigh. âughh, so.. i think i see the sun here...â she starts, sounding definitely more unsure than confident. âand... the venus? and maybe a heart right in-between? i think that means some sort of romance... though iâm not sure why it would show up now...â ( @slythlance )
ravseolhyun:
ââ
she reaches for the younger girlâs hand, scrunching her nose in disgust at the sight of badly painted nails. âoh myâwho has nails like these?â she accuses, taking the seat beside her friend without invitation; crossing one long leg over the other. âi knew there was a reason the stars led me here,â she said, half-joking, half-wondering.Â
@slyeoreum
to be completely honest, yeoreum is never too thrilled to be found by seolhyun. while she thinks that theyâre considered pretty good friends, she never really fails to drive her mad â itâs one thing that she happens to be a ravenclaw, but sheâs just so... different. sheâs a whole another world, one yeoreum could never and wouldnât want to relate to.
so when she hears her name by a voice she recognizes so well, yeoreum canât help but roll her eyes and for a split second, she considers getting up and running away. but she really isnât like that. besides, itâs not like seolhyun is a bad person. they just donât fit. which is why she wonders sometimes, how the hell theyâre even friends.
âshut up and donât look at my nails then,â she retorts, not even bothering to greet her. âi barely have enough time to eat and sleep, why would i bother fixing my nail polish? itâs not like itâs that visible anyway,â she shrugs, not taking even just one glance at her chopped nails. âbut youâre free to give me a manicure while iâm writing homework, if you wish. i wouldnât reject it.â
àč inside a cup
yeoreum doesnât believe in humbugs. she likes to stay rational in every circumstance, simply because thatâs how she had been raised. lately, however, even those things who are way beyond rationality have been interesting her. she is not aware of it yet, but itâs all probably because sheâs getting tired of all the ridiculous â and most of the time impossible â expectations her parents have set for her.Â
but the main reason why she has decided to receive a reading of tea leaves is because she has been just so damn unsure about her future. where is she even heading? she has never really doubted her parents before, not even when they kicked suho out of the family, but lately, her mind has been everywhere. what if everything they have done until this point is all wrong and theyâre leading her down the incorrect path?Â
that is why sheâs been somewhat stalking yoo kihyun lately. heâs known for doing tarot and tea leaves reading but she couldnât just ask him to read for her. she needed him to be alone so that her request would never be found out, and thus she had to analyze his schedule and find out when and where she could approach him beyond the eyes of prying people.
but she succeeds, and she doesnât hesitate to grab the opportunity. âexcuse me, yoo kihyun?â ( @huffkihyun )
àč broken ties
sheâs struggling.
itâs been such a long while. yeoreum still remembers the good old time when she and minhyuk were basically inseparable. going over to each otherâs place regularly, almost every day, considering how close their families lived to each other. always playing together and having so much fun, her brother sometimes also joining them, but he was never that involved with him. unlike yeoreum, who awaited every day she could spend with him because he was just such a fun guy to be around and play with.
but then he ends up in a house that is not slytherin and like a broken record, playing over and over again, she is once again forced to cut ties with one of her friends. by then, she couldâve been already used to it. she could see the consequences of ending up in an âunworthyâ house happen to her own brother right in front of her. but time and again she believes that for once, things will be different.
but theyâre always the same and thus yeoreum has not talked to minhyuk for years since then, despite how much she has missed him. no matter how many years has passed, there hasnât been one time where she couldâve talked to him without any eyes prying on them, fueled by enthusiasm to find some dirt on yeoreum that they could report to her parents.Â
this time, however, heâs right there, in front of her in the greenhouse and theyâre all alone. she has no idea why heâs there (hell, she doesnât even know why sheâs there to begin with), or if he has noticed her already, but sheâs aware of her inner struggle whether she should talk to him or not. she might never get the chance ever again, but how could she just randomly face him after all these years? it was all intentional, after all. yeoreum avoiding him all this time. he has every reason to have a grudge against her, hell, to even hate her.Â
but she seems have an overflowing amount of courage today, because she ends up taking a few steps closer and opening her mouth.
âhey, minhyuk. do you remember me?â ouch. what a horrible question to start this reunion thing with... ( @pufflehyuk )
àč to infinity and beyond
normally, when someone is a good and diligent student, it doesnât necessarily mean that theyâre hard-working because they would be just so interested in all those subjects they have to excel in. in fact, most of the time, these students are so keen on getting good marks because they believe that thereâs no other way; they need a good enough average to be able to achieve something in their lives. not because they adore the subjects that much.
for yeoreum, however, this is different. of course, sheâs left with no choice, also; she needs to excel otherwise her parents are going to be disappointed, but she does like most of her classes (save for herbology, obviously). her favorite is, without a doubt, astronomy. she would never want to admit, but the thought of an endless universe being out there, beyond this planet provides her with this strangely pleasant sense of comfort: that even if she fails in something or disappoints someone, the weight of it is ultimately slim to none considering just how small of an entity she is when taking the infinity of space into account.Â
it makes her happy that thereâs someone else who shares the same passion for astronomy as her. although their friendship (if she can even call their relationship one) is usually wobbling on a rather... rocky path due to their personalities clashing in a lot of aspects, yeoreum never fails to enjoy the knowledge elliot can grace her with.Â
sheâs in the library, waiting for elliot this time as well. this is their third session so far and yeoreum feels like theyâre getting closer with every occasion; perhaps itâs time she starts showing her intention of levelling up their friendship once the sixth year arrives. ( @slyelliot )
krslytherin:Â
ââ
although krystalâs family have never outright told her she was a failure, she didnât have to be told, she already knew. she knew her parents loved her and cared for her, but she also knew her parents wished she was a bit more ambitious just like her dear older sister, jessica. it wasnât as if krystal wasnât ambitious, she just had nothing to offer, she had no talents and she had no areas of expertise. hogwarts was the only thing managing to keep her sane. the thought of graduating this year scared her.
yeoreum is thankful to krystal for a long list of things. not only is she the only person whom she can fully trust when it comes to matters regarding her brother, but sheâs also sort of the supportive and caring mother she has never really had. the fifth year is convinced that she has received more support and encouragement from krystal over the years than she had ever gotten from her mother; which is really sad, in a way.
âthank you,â she says, genuine gratitude coloring her voice. âyou have no idea how much your words mean to me right now,â she continues, but then pauses, her lips puckering up. âor well, you probably do, but i wanted to tell you anyway. even if i canât afford to scream or do anything reckless even for one night, this is good advice.â
"i would love to tell you that youâre not a failure, but you know my stance on the matter already and i know it wouldnât make a difference,â she sighs, hands reaching into the pockets of her robe. âbut the fact that youâre here trying to teach me something already means that youâre talented at something. even if itâs just a spell right now, it still matters, right?â
àč lightning strikes twice.
slythadrian:Â
ââ
âbe my guest cuz,â is his unenthused retort to her whoomping willow bluff. âjust donât come crying for me when a clap of thunder shakes the tree. iâll be too busy snapping pictures as receipts for the student body.â a yawn reminds adrian of the interrupted nap so he lets his eyelids flutter to a close, expecting yeoreum to crumble any second now.
his words make it obvious that adrian has not forgotten the countless times he had been graced with the âluckâ of seeing yeoreum stagger in fear whenever there was a storm going on â much to her dissatisfaction. if her situation could be any worse, itâs definitely adrian digging up all those memories of their childhood she does not think back of fondly. as if she needed any reminder of how she still hasnât managed to overcome this immature fear of hers.Â
âso what,â she replies, but itâs a lackluster retort, one that doesnât illustrate yeoreumâs general sense of sarcasm and wittiness in the slightest. but can she be blamed, when ninety percent of her mind is just so focused on the unsettling noise of the storm that clenches her chest and causes her hair to stand on end? yet another thunder; and yeoreumâs eyes slam shut with the intention of blinding herself from her cousinâs smug look and the way the storm plays around with the illumination in the dim room.Â
with every second passing, she can feel her self-control and pride crack; despite the feeling of dirtiness rushing through her body, she feels herself less and less reluctant to accept adrianâs offer, even if she knows that she will beat herself up for it for months afterwards.Â
âreceipts for what? you would be taking photos only for fun. i know your evil nature well enough,â she hisses, a frigid shiver coursing down her spine and her body starts to tremble, worse than before. she tries to fight it, but ultimately fails and a few drops of tears escape her still tightly locked eyes, her arms wrapping around her knee more forcefully. âwhy... am i like this... this is ridiculous...â
weâre the beginning of the end
jongdaepuff:
ââ
he takes a drag and puffs out glittered smoke in the air. âah, the slytherin girl from the other day.â jongdae nods and a vivid memory flashes of her making fun of him with her pack of other slytherin friends. âdidnât know that you can actually walk alone without your snake friends.â pause. âdid you come here to bust my secret hideout?â
@slyeoreum
itâs not often that yeoreum ends up wandering around hogsmeade on her own, especially not after the last time she got so hopelessly lost that she would have been doomed if she hadnât been found by one of those ravenclaw girls. yet here she is, challenging her fate in the shrieking shack all alone because she was too embarrassed to ask anyone to accompany her, considering that most of her so-called friends would probably laugh at her for wanting to explore such a âboringâ place.Â
she definitely doesnât expect to anyone to wind up; so when someone actually does, yeoreum is scared. what if itâs a slytherin and theyâll think that she had gotten lost again? the whole point in coming here all alone was not to be found out by anyone, so in case that happensâ
but then yeoreum recognizes the male, and honestly, this option is not much better. kim jongdae, alias her friend lisaâs brother, alias the hufflepuff she and her âcrewâ sometimes picked on back in time, a process yeoreum herself never enjoyed but partook in anyway. to be with him, alone, in a ghost-house type of building is a rather... distressing situation, she has to admit.
he makes sure that the atmosphere stays that way, too, with his words filled with laid-back contempt directed at her but she canât exactly blame him. she was never nice to him, so itâs not like she deserves anything different than such words thrown at her. however, she would be lying if his attitude didnât affect her in the least.Â
âdespite the common belief, iâm actually not looking for every opportunity to ruin peopleâs lives,â she says, an exaggeration; her reputation isnât that bad, honestly, but she certainly has more of a negative one than anything. itâs all due to the circles sheâs rolling in, which is something sheâs desiring to change but has no room to â with her parentsâ âspiesâ all around hogwarts, it has always been hard for yeoreum to do the things she wants to on her own will. âand to answer your question, no, iâm not here to bust your hideout. though iâm not quite sure why you would come this far just to smoke a few cigarettes,â she admits, an obvious distaste for the stinking rod wedged betwen his fingers. sheâs never been a fan of smoking and she probably will never become one. âand iâm here because i obviously donât have anything better to do. at least i can be away from my... snake friends,â she echoes his words, not even feeling any sort of hurt in place of the people heâs referring to. itâs not like theyâre real friends of hers, anyway. âi would ask the same from you, but it seems obvious why youâre here.âÂ
àč silent running
* âŸË Ëⶠă date : october 28th, 2011  ă.
curiosity is a strong emotion. yeoreum has known this for awhile now, but usually this overwhelming thirst for knowledge and something ânewâ doesnât get her in much trouble. sheâs generally a careful, obedient girl who doesnât like bending the rules because sheâs afraid of the potential consequences coming up if sheâs found out.Â
but sometimes, even she has a hard time fighting her curiosity. which is probably why she thought that it would be fun and interesting to sneak into the ravenclaw tower to check it out all alone. the fact that she has managed to guess the answer to the riddle correctly also fueled her courage and enthusiasm; but once she was actually in, it all disappears â poof! gone! just like that! and there she is, standing in the huge hall of the tower, an eleven-year-old little girl wearing green in the common room of the blues. which is even worse: sheâs not alone.Â
yeoreum gulps. she clearly hasnât thought this through. if she gets in trouble now and her parents find out, she will have to suffer its consequences foreverâ but then, a silly (and probably not too helpful) idea comes to her mind. she acts on a whim, which makes her uncomfortable because she likes to think beforehand, but she has no choice now. she darts out and approaches the first girl who seems to be alone, gently grabbing onto her arm and flashing her a friendly smile.Â
âhey!â she says, then leans in closer, lowering her voice to a mere whisper, âcan you please pretend to know me? iâll explain.â ( @ravminkyeong )
â beauty queen.
ravjiyeon:Â
ââ
âexcuse me?â the female looked down at her cuts that were currently almost clear of blood and then back up at the slytherin. âitâs a rather difficult situation, really. itâs more along the lines of something i canât control.â why she was sharing this with her made no sense in her own brain, but maybe she secretly wanted someone to understand her for once. âmother always said to keep a smile on your face. she said a girl was no use if she wasnât pretty. mother said-â and she cut herself off after catching a glance at her own reflection once more, except this time with a couple tears dwelling in her eyes.
yeoreum notices the lack of recognition in the ravenclawâs eyes and itâs not exactly a surprise to her. sheâs sure that they have never spoken before and just because the slytherin has seen this girlâs acts a several times before meant literally nothing. so it must have been rather shocking for her to be called out by someone she doesnât even know, but yeoreum honestly couldnât care less about that right now.Â
what surprises her, however, is that the girl actually answers; telling the truth about herself, about something probably rather serious and personal to a complete stranger and it seems like the ravenclaw is also taken aback by her own words. a rather amusing sight to experience, in yeoreumâs opinion.Â
her explanation is just as bad â in fact, worse than what yeoreum has imagined beforehand and the corner of her mouth twitches; fingers curling into a tight fist as she tries to control the sudden irritation that overwhelms her. âa girl was no use if she wasnât prettyâ, the sentence echoes in her mind and she canât shake it off. âyour mother was wrong,â she says, without thinking, which is so uncharacteristic of yeoreum. but if thereâs anything she hates more than failing is people who hold a gender in higher regards than the other. the notion of which happens to be almost all the time the exact same: people still believing, in 2016, that women are not good for anything other than their looks and household duties besides the âbeautiful occupationâ of raising and nurturing a child. it made yeoreum stick to her stomach; and the fact that conservative people like that still existed (moreso in the society of magic, much to her annoyance) is hard to take in.
then, itâs yeoreumâs turn to do something to surprise her own self: she steps in, close enough to be within armâs reach and she brushes away the drops of tears making their way down the ravenclawâs cheek. âyour mother is delusional. if you werenât worth anything besides being pretty, why would you be here then? studying only not to become anything later on? wouldnât that be a waste of time?â
àč unpleasant news.
slythevan:Â
ââ
âyeah,â he agrees quietly. âyeah. i agree with you. if theyâd just askedâŠâ he falters and he lowers his head slightly, staring at their joined hands, and his lips curve up faintly in an unamused smile. âengagements⊠even marriage at this age. itâs all so⊠itâs so old-fashioned.â he blurts out, his cheeks paling slightly. âitâs⊠i donât know, yeoreum-ah. i donâtâŠâ his voice cuts out again, and he doesnât want to say that his mother is wrong â thatâs never, ever ended well for him.
itâs quite relieving that evan shares her thoughts and opinions regarding this serious matter that concerns the both of them â and in a rather negative manner. to think that all their parents had to do was to ask to avoid all this and they completely failed to, itâs madness. yeoreum finds it hard to believe that her parents really do not care about her feelings at all and they manage to go as far as to assume her stance on something so major like a marriage. they havenât even been together for a whole year! why is an engagement so important that they have to hurry and do it as soon as possible like there was no tomorrow?Â
âiâve always enjoyed this freedom... not being betrothed to anyone like some of my childhood friends or cousins... and it turns out that itâs all just a big lie, a pretense to give me this false sense of freedom and independence,â she shakes her head, pressing the bottom of her palm against her forehead to ease the stinging pain.Â
her eyes slam shut when he leans in to press a kiss against her forehead, his presence being the only comforting thing for her right here, right in this situation. it gives her a sense of safety, which is only half real â considering that he has probably no more control over the things than yeoreum does, meaning that they will either have to go through with this unwanted engagement or defy their parents, which probably wonât end up sprouting the nicest consequences.Â
âi know... as much as it surprised me, though, i can completely understand why my parents would engage in such old-fashioned traditions.â yeoreum subconsciously smirks at the unintended pun, the temporary joy not lasting for too long however. âi wonder how long have they been planning this. do you think our fate was already decided when we started going out? were they preparing for this all this time? iâm glad they at least had the decency not to announce it just a week after we got together...â as if that was any comforting at all.Â
âwhat are we going to do, oppa? do you think our parents would cancel the plans if we told them that we donât want to do it? for some reason, i donât feel like that would work...â
àč daylight fading
she was supposed to only to check out something, but she never actually expected her friends not to wait for her. what a bunch of snakes, completely living up to their slytherin title. yeoreum canât believe that they have left her all to her own without hesitation when her friends are very well aware that she is awful at directions. sure thing, she did tell them that she will be back, but arenât friends called friends because theyâre supposed to know you in and out?
argh, whatever. it seems like yeoreum has undeniably and completely gotten lost somewhere near the edge of hogsmeade and god help her because it doesnât look like sheâs finding her way back anytime soon. this is why her friends never should have abandoned her! just what the hell is she going to do to find her way back?!Â
this must be one of the most embarrassing days in her life. how is she supposed to be the heiress to a prestigious pureblood family when she manages to get so lost after going off on her own in hogsmeade that itâs feared she will never ever find her way back. how freaking ridiculous. but she canât just sit around and wait for a miracle to happen because anyone believing that wishful thinking like that actually works... must be stupid as hell. ( @grypcy )
àč defy you
on most days, things usually go like yeoreum wants them to. she wakes up with a proper mindset, no insecurities; she excels in her classes, managing to ace every spell or potion; all her homework is checked and theyâre without a single mistake.Â
but on some days, somewhere throughout the day, something goes wrong and it starts a catching fire. those kind of days are what yeoreum hates with a burning passion, especially because itâs repeatedly proven that no matter what she does, sheâs never capable of stopping the series of unfortunate events once the first domino is pushed.Â
today seems to be one of those days and yeoreum is already tired of it. she canât believe itâs happening to her; to be so unlucky to completely lose sight of her cat when she has just so many things to do. elizabeth 6th has never done this before and it worries the heck out of yeoreum. âelly! where the hell are you? please come back to me!â ( @gryfsilas )
âą matters of interest âą
taehyungsly:Â
ââ
âsure.â thereâs a pause, and he purses his lips with a soft sigh. âiâm bored.â
for once, she enjoys the expression on taehyungâs face. he seems to be somewhat impressed by her knowledge and acknowledgement of her brains has always been one of the emotions she strives to evoke from people. this, of course, doesnât change the fact that heâs giving her a hard time, but at least thereâs a bright side to the situation as well.
yeoreum didnât imagine that it would be possible for him to annoy her even more, but when he announces that heâs bored, she loses it. she drops her quill, crumples the parchment filled with no more than two sentences of her supposed-to-be homework only to throw it right at him. âthen do something! be productive! i canât believe you are really willing to get the younger students do your projects for you. youâre such a...â she starts, but then she realizes that the word she was about to say (âtypical slytherinâ) would be a disgrace to herself, too.Â
so in the end, she just shakes her head. ânevermind. letâs play a game. if you manage to stay quiet for ten whole minutes iâll treat you to something in hogsmeade next time.â
