"Isn't there any way you trust me?" (From @Evelyn-snape-nee-potter)
Severus frowned and roughly scrubbed at the mud speckling his face with his sleeve, succeeding only in smearing it worse. He’d be spitting out frog spawn for hours.
“Your brother and his friends spent the last half hour hexing me, so you’ll have to excuse my hesitation.” the first-year hacked, trying to regain a fraction of his dignity by at least showing some eloquence.

A lumpy scarf of green and black wool. It was lumpy in some places, had holes in others, and the width varied along it's too long length. But there was still hopeful pride in Lily's eyes as Sev unwrapped it. "I knitted it myself. Happy Birthday!"
Usually, Severus was not one for even admitting that he had a birthday to begin with, but it came as a pleasant surprise that she’d come along with a gift. The fact that she’d knitted it herself made his chest constrict hard with a simultaneous gratitude and guilt. Surely the girl had better things to do with her limited free time, but all the same she’d put out the effort to give him something special. His pale fingers bumped over the woolen lumps to examine it, cherishing each proper knit and flaw. He could see learning and effort in every stitch. It was perfect.
“You must have worked so hard on it… I love it. Thank you, Lily.” he beamed, throwing his scrawny arms around her in a squishing embrace before wrapping the scarf around his neck.
He didn’t notice the happy tears dripping down his hooked nose, too lost in a moment of contentment. It was lovely and warm.

The boy brightened up at the suggestion, nodding eagerly. Transfigurations was one of his preferred subjects, as he was quite the natural. Unlike most subjects, like Potions, he didn’t have to study for hours to match his brother’s skill level and understanding.
“Have you gotten the needle back into a match yet?” Eugene inquired, standing up straight and grabbing his bag. He always carried a few useful books and a first-aid kit in his sack, never one for being caught off guard. “I was so close yesterday when she suggested we try it in class. The needle became straw shaped and got this weird in-between color, but it kept a metal texture.”
----------------------------------------------
“Ehhhh define got it back into a match.” he replied evasively.
Severus was not terrible at Transfiguration by any stretch of the imagination, but Eugene certainly seemed to have a more natural talent for it. He rubbed his arm and gave a sheepish grin.
“If you mean, did you make a more dangerous match, then yes. It can both burn AND stab you... because it’s still every bit as pointy. But the colors are back. Mostly. Sort of.” he continued, tucking away some extra parchment for notes in his own bag and striding towards the door. “Show me how you did it?”
Here have a brief hug to recover from the trauma of those anons.
Hands slightly trembling from irritation, Severus accepted the hug.
“…Thank you.”
defiantcharms replied to your post:
“But Sev, I’d make a terrible Circus Fortune Teller, and I don’t fancy being a tight rope walker.”
“Maybe you could ride the elephants!”
C’mon, smile…I’ll tickle you if I have to!”
Severus wrapped the med wing blanket a little tighter around his shoulders for a barrier. Late nights studying in the Slytherin Common Room wouldn’t have been quite so chilly if he’d stayed near the fire, or the floating fondue and hot chocolate fountains that Professor Slughorn kept running… but he’d chosen to lean against the window looking out into the Great Lake. The giant squid sometimes liked to look in and linger when the boy was near.
“You can’t. I won’t even notice. Everything’s too far gone.” he exaggerated.
“You have a COLD, Mr. Snape! Just take your Pepper Up Potion and you’ll be well!” Madam Pomfrey sighed in exasperation.
“Tastes like pepper…” Severus grumbled.

Random Starter: Lily and Severus go ice skating.Severus is not very good and Lily has to help him.
@defiantcharms
Generally, it was frowned upon to skate on the Great Lake, even in the dead of winter when the ice was at least a foot thick. The giant squid sometimes liked to burst through and frighten wayward children. Or so the urban legends suggested.
“Do you think this is a good idea? I mean... I’m not scared or anything...”
