For those who wish to savor the sweet and tangy goodness of homemade marmalade without producing a large quantity, this small batch marmalade recipe is ideal. This easy recipe perfectly encapsulates the vibrant flavors of citrus fruits.
Ingredients: 4 oranges. 1 lemon. 2 cups granulated sugar. 1/2 cup water.
Instructions: Thoroughly wash and scrub the oranges and lemon. Finely chop the oranges and lemon, including the peel and seeds, using a sharp knife or food processor. If large seeds are visible, remove them. Add the water, lemon, and chopped oranges to a large saucepan. Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil while stirring from time to time. After it comes to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer and let it cook for thirty to forty minutes, or until the citrus peel becomes translucent and soft. Add the granulated sugar and cook, stirring often, until the mixture thickens and takes on the desired consistency, which should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. A tiny bit of marmalade on a chilled plate will allow you to check its consistency; it should gel and wrinkle when you press it with your finger. After taking the saucepan off the stove, give the marmalade some time to cool. Transfer the marmalade into sterile, clean jars and firmly close them. Before putting the marmalade in the fridge, let it cool completely. As it cools, it will get thicker still. Savor your homemade small batch marmalade as a delectable condiment or on toast or scones!
