Creature Awaits #220
Each week I plan to feature an amazing creature, admiring God's fantastic artistry. Hopefully it’ll brighten someone’s day to see something new and interesting if they haven’t seen it before. : )

Paedophryne amauensis
Scientific Name: Paedophryne amauensis (has no common name)
Region: Papua New Guinea
Size: Only about 0.3" (~7.7mm) long!
Interesting Notes: Discovered in 2009, by herpetologist Christopher Austin and one of his students, Eric Rittmeyer, this tiny frog is not only the smallest currently-known frog, but the smallest currently-known vertebrate as well. (…and it's so cute!😊💕)
Yesterday the internet taught me about the smallest frog in the world: the pumpkin toadlet.
May I present:
This frog is so tiny that it's got two things... not entirely working. Basically, it's ears are too frickin' small to hear it's own species mating calls.
But that's not the weirdest (considering they apparently still find mating partners), no. Having the smallest ears on the entire planet means that they're proprieception is not working.
Sounds weird, looks hilarious:
