Plant of the Day
Wednesday 11 July 2018
Tolerant of heavy grazing, frequent mowing or trampling and a rich source of nectar for pollinating insects the Trifolium repens (small leaved white clover) was flowering in the fields of the Isle of Tiree, Scotland. This plant is a long-lived creeping perennial which spreads through the base of the grassland with prostrate creeping stems which root at intervals.
