A rhythmic melody of raindrops

The asphalt, that became hot over the day, greedily absorbed raindrops, becoming dark gray. With each new second the sky was dropping more and more water, the streets turned into one continuous puddle. The drops beat off a rhythmic melody, and the air was filled with the freshness and aroma of rain.

Morning

It was a cool gloomy day. Clouds swollen with rain hung above the city, the wind battered trees ruthlessly. But at that moment the grayness of the streets wasn't depressing at all, on the contrary, after so many days of intense heat, autumnal freshness filled the body with new strengths.

He and she were sitting comfortably in arm-chairs in a half-empty cafe and enjoyed morning reading. That was their island of tranquility, especially in the early morning hours, while everyone was sleeping peacefully in their beds. In the city, which stuck in an endless construction noise, it was almost an unknown pleasure.

She drank coffee, he - green tea. At the next table, two girlfriends were discussing something actively, sipping their smoothies and eating a pie. The owner of the cafe in his usual manner was welcoming the guests, exchanging a couple of phrases with them. The cafe began filling with the smell of coffee, cinnamon cookies, and laughter.

Life went on in rhythm with piano

She sat staring out the window, with a bitter taste of coffee on her lips, the sound of a piano in her ears and a lonely tear was rolling down her cheek. Anger that filled her body previously, was replaced by sadness, by unexplained sadness. 

A lump of tears and bitterness stuck in a throat. In that very same moment, everyday life rushed outside the window: someone hurried to work, someone drank tea and smoked cigarettes, a family with a baby crossed the road, and dogs, many dogs raced right in front of the cafe. Everyone was going somewhere, talking about something, doing and planning something. Life went on in rhythm with piano.

Escape

We escaped from the Stone Jungle, from the Kingdom of drills, hammers, continuous construction, car signals, traffic, crowds, and air that burns the lungs. Big city swallowed us. We didn't notice how turned into a complete bundle of nerves.

Driving down the highway the tension took hold of me. And at one point, we got a flat tire. "But we haven’t passed even a halfway. Maybe we should go back and forget about the mountains? No, in no way, it's time to escape from paws of madness."

Mountains, untouched nature, birds singing, fresh air and overwhelming silence. I can breathe again, I can contemplate and feel. Each cell in my body is filling with joy and energy. To be in harmony with myself and the world - this is what mama Nature teaches me, this is what she gives me every single time.

Morning in the city

We woke up early in the morning to drive around the sleepy and empty city. The air was still fresh after a night rain. My hair was flowing in the wind, my skin was so excited about all this freshness that came after a week of unbearable heat. On weekends at 6am in the morning, Chiang Mai is gorgeous, so silent and peaceful. No bikes, no cars, almost no people. 

That day we met lots of monks walking barefoot on the streets here and there. Covered with the orange fabric, they added bright colors to a grey and green city. That was a kind of ritual: locals stopped monks, gave them food and money, got on the knees in front of monks and prayed.

We love to explore hidden tiny streets and districts and that morning we did the same. People were just waking up and doing their everyday stuff, that was real Thai life. The air started filling with tasty flavors of breakfasts, fresh tea, and fruits. 

We grabbed some coffee in a cafe near the river and sat in silence on a terrace. All around was filled with birdsong. We didn’t want to say even a word and only listened to the sounds of nature. Such cities as Chiang Mai they teach us to appreciate every minute of our life, to listen and perceive. That was a perfect weekend morning.

On a plane

The flight departure was delayed for half an hour. The atmosphere became increasingly tense. An hour after takeoff, the crew moved through the cabin with first trolleys, offering blissful drinks. The space was slowly filling with alcohol aromas. Previously gloomy passengers got a tipsy blush and started lively “intellectual” conversations at lunch. The trolley moved back and forth, filling empty glasses. One more hour later conversations started to subside, and soon there was nothing but absolute silence. Everyone was peacefully sleeping with a full belly.

(RUS) Отправление рейса задерживалось на пол часа, атмосфера становилась все более напряженной. Но вот спустя час после взлёта, по салону прокатились первые тележки, разливая успокоительные градусы. Салон наполнился алкогольными ароматами, у ранее хмурых пассажиров появился хмельной румянец и все окунулись в оживленные «интеллектуальные» беседы поглощая горячий обед. Тележка позвякивая проезжала взад-вперёд, не успевая подливать самым раскрепостившимся. Спустя ещё час, беседы стали умолкать и воцарилась тишина, все мирно посапывали с полными брюхами.
