THE PRESENTATION CABINET I can count about 20-odd psychoactives on display on these shelves, all of which were legally for sale when I took the photograph. Also visible are a variety of other interesting items, including testing kits and a trip killer.

I probably don't have to tell most of you that it is a smart shop in Amsterdam, a city in which I have spent many months researching over the last 10 years or so. I admit that I spent far too long looking in windows and at various cabinets like this one.

On open legal sale in Amsterdam, these items are sold to adults only, and come with sensible safety advice from the (reputable) vendor. Compare this with the lottery of blind UK purchase often from an unknown or criminal source. Prohibition kills, education saves lives.

THE CHURCH This smart shop is conveniently tucked inside the recess of an old church (Gravenstraat, Amsterdam). It sold the usual array of magic truffles and paraphernalia.
