smartphone holder could actually be a decent mystery series if the author's way of showing how smart his hero was wasn't by having him jump to conclusions based on nothing except those being the conclusions he needs to reach in order for the plot to continue

for example, in the first chapter, the main character decides the kidnapping victim he's trying to find is wearing the same outfit she had on in the picture they were showing on tv, even though there was absolutely no reason for him to suspect that, given a) there was no indication the picture was taken on the day of her disappearance; b) people tend to own multiple articles of clothing; and c) the victim was four, which is an age at which children tend to grow out of clothes pretty soon after getting them. the only reason he was right was because it gave him the clue he needed to track down the kidnapper

more recently, he decided that whoever instigated a "clever" attack on an apartment complex (an "elaborate" plot that basically boiled down to "you guys go rob the place while i distract the police") has to be the same person who kidnapped his brother several years before the start of the story because.......?

really though, what can you expect from a detective series starring someone whose name is fucking Q and uses the alias Pseudonym (y'know, because "anon" would've been obvious)
