My biggest gripes with recent Godzilla comics have been the excess of crossovers and the "denuclearization" that comes with having him at full power prior to 1945... and yet I'm really looking forward to this one. I can tolerate pre-Atomic Age Godzilla a lot more when he's actually in Japan, and given that the Land of the Rising Sun had just conquered Taiwan when H.G. Wells' book was published, I'm hopeful that the anti-imperialist message will be retained. Plus, you know, Godzilla fighting tripods.

War of the Worlds terrified me so badly as a kid that I was having full blown panic attacks and night terrors around the concept of aliens invading.

Now it’s the real life things that give me panic attacks and War of the Worlds has become a comfort movie. So I doodle the Tripods and pose the question of what if they were just silly little guys???

I need to talk about something that scared the absolute SHIT out of me a while back, and I can’t believe I haven’t brought it up before, but I watched War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise) and the day after, when I went to let my dog out in the morning, I heard something that sounded exactly like a tripod’s horn, and that mfer was loud as hell, gng 😭

Granted, I live not too far from a highway, so it was definitely some loud ass vehicle echoing from that, but my knees went WEAK. Never have I felt that kind of fear before. 😳
