Headcanons for crypto x Wattson when crypto has a very bad nightmare attack?

They’d gotten close recently. Crypto knew better than to get close and trust people here in the arena, and yet here he was, looking at a girl who smiled with all her heart across the room. Her golden hair dusting her cheeks and her laugh digging into his heart like an arrow swift from across the room. He knows he’s being ridiculous when he sighs longingly her way, quickly turning away when she lifts her gaze to wave at him.

Natalie is bubbly yet fierce. She is a good friend and an even better teammate. Her ‘kill them with kindness’ attitude is so opposite to his own paranoid one. But she brings out his true self, the one he does not hide behind the mask he builds for the arena. She gets him to make puns, jokes, smile and laugh quietly like he used to. She brings out a side of him he isn’t ready to reveal to anyone.

Her lips taste like her strawberry chapstick the first time they kiss and this should relieve him. It doesn’t. Paranoia strikes, worry strikes, but he voices none. Nightmares curl into him at night, and finally he gets the guts to walk shakily to her quarters and knock. She answers in pink night gown covered in purple unicorns, her hair a mess but clearly not asleep.

“Crypto?” Her voice speaks gentle, offering her hand for him and he takes it. He comes inside, quickly wrapping his arms around her and she follows suit with a surprised noise. Squeezing around his waist and shushing him when his resolve and walls break and he silently weeps into her hair.

He stays with her that night, he doesn’t need to say what’s wrong, and he doesn’t want her pity. They both know this. He keeps his face buried in her neck or chest while she rests her arms around him in bed, continuing to read her book while occasionally leaning down to nuzzle her cheek atop his head. A quiet question if he is alright, and he’ll hum to let her know that he is.

This happens frequently to the point sometimes he’ll find her outside his door instead with her arms wrapped around her Nessie plushie and quietly mumbling she’s dreamt of her dad again. And he’ll do the same for her, letting her have some peace of mind while he talks and rants about some old comic book he used to read just to hear her laugh even through her tears.

They work well together.
