Went to my college’s alumni weekend + celebrated five years since graduating + went for a 5-mile run around campus that turned into 7 miles that turned into 10 that turned into a half marathon (powered only by poptarts and donuts) + got sunburned + danced to an 80s cover band until midnight

On the last night of camp, we went to this concert and there was THIS!

#does anyone mind if I feel very intense and nostalgic about my college campus for a minute. thanks #maybe the first time I’ve looked at photos since graduating that didn’t feel like one thousand knives #but I also stopped before I got to 2020 #*#smcm #listened to a song on my run that made me think of freshman year and specifically the day we met #walking into his office for the first time with no idea. man.

Going through old photos tonight and realized I took these, some of my absolute favorite photos on campus ever, two years ago today (in December 2018). It was a weekend, almost the end of the semester, the seventh night of Hanukkah, there were rumors the snow would cancel finals... It was a beautiful time, warm despite the freezing ice. I’ll never forget moments like that.

I graduated college today!!! 🎓

When I started this blog in middle school, I was not sure I would ever see this day. But I found my passion, and worked my ass off, and was blessed enough to find folks who supported me endlessly (including many of y’all), so here I am!

Of course, it is not the “graduation” I’ve been dreaming about for years. I am home, far from my campus community, sending emails and texts to celebrate and feel close to my fellow graduates and professors instead of hugs. It sucks but... I do feel close to them. Struggling through the last few months together has only strengthened our bond and I can’t wait for the day when we can see each other again and celebrate properly.

In the meantime, though, I’m officially a college graduate! I’m a historian now!
